New Occupancy Indicator Guidelines effective 7/01/2023

Updated Occupancy Indicator Guidelines have been updated and posted on HROneStop. They will be effective 7/01 in your employee profile. Lots of changes from the current guidelines, most notably, FOW doesn't stand for Flex Worker anymore; it indicates Future Office Worker. This is a temporary placeholder for national roles, basically anyone outside the 9 hub city locations who will be expected to move or quit. You will still be expected to work at an alternate AT&T location, if available, until you move to your final destination. Also, there is only a single virtual classification. The word we got is that we will be notified of our future work location and occupancy indicator on 6/30.

"I’m in a hub and was designated FOW. Seems that everyone was automatically changed irrespective of hub city or not."

OP here. My guess is that many people will be designated FOW, because its not feasible for everyone to show up in Dallas on Day 1. They will wait to see how many elect to move, quit, or retire. Thin the ranks. Each dept has their own plans and timeline, and FOW's will be converted to FTO's. Also, there is also the possibility that they will designate some hub employees to other hubs. Sounds stupid, but I wouldn't put it past them.

"No changes have been made to employee profiles"

It's effective 7/01, which is 10 days from now. You won't see any personal changes until then. It might be a few days later, because it takes time to update thousands of records, but new status will be retroactive to 7/01.

OP said the GUIDELINES are posted. Nothing I’ve seen shows the actual indicator has changed yet. I am TW in webphone, expect it to change now to FOW - for ‘future office worker’ after new policy (7/1) , since I am going to have to return to one of the 9 hubs in September.

We were told differently. I am FOW with the office being Dallas but I am in a hub. I was told the FOW is a placeholder for anyone that will have to move from their current location.

The FOW label is actually assigned incorrectly to thousands of employees right now. These are employees who are based in local markets and are customer facing, field operations, market RAN etc. These are not national roles or national based employees. They are based in markets and in roles which cannot functionally operate outside local markets. These employees were designated as Flex Office worker using FOW and have errantly been assigned as Future office worker, they in fact will be FTO and remain in their current work locations.
