When I worked at ATT, we had half the team in India. They worked 2nd shift in India so that we could talked to them up until 11am. It worked but their team was double the size of the US team. Was it easy - no. I bet the cost savings was a wash out. Just like in the US, people who work 2nd shift are not the top talent.
