About 30% of this company is going to be gone by the end of the year. Act accordingly.
Don’t sit around with your head in your hands. Get your ducks in a row NOW: LinkedIn, your CV, network and start taking calls.
The people writing that people like me who write this are propagating a conspiracy or that this is somehow a ruse to get you to quit now and forgo severance clearly do NOT understand the current job market. (Which makes sense since, in fairness to them: they’re probably Craft and have only worked at T.)
I’m telling you right now as someone working in human capital unless you’re looking for entry-level work it will take you MONTHS to find another job and to get to offer. (Again: an entry level customer service or $20/hr job isn’t applicable here). By the time you get your LinkedIN up and going, get a good resume in order, start applying for work via LinkedIN, Indeed, etc, a lot of time will have gone by. The online job application in of itself is a hellscape. Just so laborious. Applying for one job can take hours. And you’ll need to apply to lots of them: hundreds if you’re smart.
Then if you make it past the AI, there will be calls (after the bot emails.) And then more calls. And yet more calls and then maybe some zoom interviews.
Then and only then if the company in question decides to move forward will you be flown in for in person interviews. Then there will be more waiting. And yet more. Then they’ll need to run your background check and go back and make sure everyone is still bought in to hiring you. Then you’ll get an offer. (If it all goes well.)
Be PROACTIVE now and don’t sit around.
If you’re smart you’ll be able to time this to where you can have an offer and a stave off the start date to where you can have a new job lined up AND get the severance. My husband has done this before: lined our pockets with 6 months of pay, took a two week vacay, then started the new job. It can be done.
Waiting around until everyone is in the same situation you are in is NOT a smart move.
Work the system. Start now.
