What happened???? Change happened. Tell the same story to all those blacksmiths that were replaced by automobile mechanics. Key word is Auto. Progress has displaced millions of workers. Luck in all forms exist. Lifetime employment at one company is now a rarity. Move onward and upward. T is not the end all.

Years ago, it was just the landline. That was it. The world changed. You must have missed it.
The internet is what happened. We were a regulated monopoly telephone company that didn’t adapt to the times quick enough.
Just building cracks better. And you'll be looking back on this time as the good old days in just a few years.
What happened ? The monopoly era ended. Things have been eroding since.

Well, horrific executive leadership not withstanding, Unions certainly don’t help. They drive up operating costs, stymie creativity, and, let’s be honest: have you ever met a union go-getter? The whole premise of being in a union is positively Soviet and predicated on frowning upon competitiveness (hence no rewards or bonuses for going above and beyond) and getting ahead. Unions are just awful for ambitious employees and the company. So inept leadership, Unions, and then thousands upon thousands of layers and management that, honestly, don’t need to be there. Most people I know at T are VERY nice people, but they barely work. They might *think they’re working hard, but that’s only because they’ve been there since the 80s/90s and have never worked at another company. So ineptitude coupled with unions, laziness and too many layers. Working at a behemoth like T is like the government. So many shirkers who think the company owes them a favor; simply read the comments on here. Lots of bitter people. Tells you pretty much all you need to know about why it’s flailing and failing.
