Outsourcing is a reality. There are departments that are completely outsourced, nothing unusual. It is unnecessary to talk about the results of such a business strategy here, because we all see that the ship is sinking. I'm just curious how much longer will the outsourcing be high on their list of priorities!?

With all the outsourcing, leadership is losing touch on how much duplicity has been created. Every order in service delivery under Townes has too many hand offs and redundancy. You could remove an entire team and there will be no impact as there is already multiple groups monitoring aka making sure order is moving toward completion.
There seems to be a general misunderstanding of why AT&T is taking the actions that they are taking with regard to layoffs and outsourcing. The company appears to be reducing a significant number of employees in order to pay down debt. AT&T is not a growth company so they cannot pay down their debt through new products, it must be with a combination of levers including downsizing and outsourcing. AT&T is going to be completely different company —- no longer is AT&T a one stop shop of telecom services. AT&T will be smaller with a much smaller portfolio of services. Hence the company’s focus will be to maintain cash flow and exit all unprofitable and non-core services.
Last year they added to management mandatory training " how to manage non badged employees". I'm in a CWA center and don't care for this vibe. Contingency training or signs of the future?
Ten years ago the mantra was Follow The Sun, and our jobs did.... Follow The Sun
Outsourcing is the way to go. They really want their job, AT&T doesn't have to pay health insurance benefits, deal with the union, pensions etc, Why wouldn't they outsource??
Outsourcing will be leveraged indefinitely. The goal is to have very few direct employees on the payroll. C Suite and executives down to the 4th and 5th level. Everything else can be filled with badged or Service providers.
until only the money people and executive leadership are left. for some reason, they never seem to be outsourced.
The new benefit spin is to outsource your doctor and insurance when you retire. You will need to report to your new benefit location and doctor in Mexico by November, otherwise you decided to quit and not follow your benefits and they will be summarily terminated. The company is giving you a choice, it’s your decision.
Customer service consumer and the business CS mobility added a f*** load of new vendors all over the world.they pulling out of Philippines and going to places in other continents it is so cheap. They are trying to get rid of all customer services management by not having ATT centers. Also the benefit center is outsourced too. Nobody cares.
ITO, TP&E were outsourced years ago
Benefits Department (a big portion of it)
Outsourcing will ultimately be AT&T's downfall as NPW's have no skin in the game and could give a sh-t.
What depts/organizations have been outsourced (not counting software development contractors)?
I can think of: IT Help Desk (local and phone support); CRE Building Maintenance. Others?
Until the majority of badged employees are gone.
