Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Lies on your Performance Review

Isn't it libel & slander if it's not true? If it affects bonus, job & merit increase, there's an economic correlation. This is a class action waiting to happen. Poor Risk Management on the Bank's part. Has anyone considered taking legal action on the bogus Performance Review commentary?

  1. Why hasn't the manager be apprehended for lying on an official document?
  1. What has been done to check the credibility and competence of the manager given the situation that has unfolded?

Hearing the stories here...and so the craziness continues. Things are indeed "different" here, Alice in Wonderland different. Sad the working world has to be like this where you are effectively hounded for no good reason.

My accommodation impacted my review rating and I’m sure there’s nothing I can do about it. They don’t care. If I can’t be at work and can’t predict the future of my medical condition, I cannot give my manager notice. Not sure what he wants from me except to be one of the lucky selected for spread ratings.

My manager is a senior manager in Operational Risk and has never done a days work. Tells us to make up nonsense because it getting counted somewhere. Managers manager is the same. At the beginning I was challenging what was going on but just one review cycle set me straight. I am now happy with my rating.

Nobody from HR or my line of reporting has EVER given me feedback on what I was writing in a review. Never. I have, since this new process been in force, had HR give me tips on how to write negative things in reviews that cant be proven. Lot's of ... almost hit the whatever, in my opinion, sometimes meets, mostly does, and to look for communication failures like emails not responded to, too may people copied on an email, inappropriate messaging, etc, Also told anyone who doesn't meet RTO gets an inconsistently meets period. As a manager I no longer can teach and grow my team. This process is so that leaders don't have to set measurable goals.

I received all great 360 feedback from my colleagues and stakeholders, all sub categories showed "meets" in my evaluation. But somehow, my manager put an overall rating of "inconsistently meets" at the top. He did not explain exactly why, but said it's the new Wells Fargo rating process that's doing it. I asked other managers for their 2nd opinions to see if this made sense. They all agreed with me that this rating did not make sense, and my direct manager should fix it. But my manager says nobody could change the rating once submitted in the system. This guy never tells me the whole story, something is very rotten here.

Before I was sacked, my manager who has been with wells for 27 years, copies and pastes reviews from other teams' members. How do I know, because the numb head forgot to change the name when referring to me. His grammar was horrible, never went to bat for any of us. Never put any effort into emails that he forwarded to us, huge, long ones where we had no clue wtf they were talking about, but for some reason we were supposed to pick up on them. He's basically one of the good ol boys, lower management, always has been, but darn good at hiding and never makes waves. He was great at signing our checks, okaying pto, and leaving us alone.

Don't waste your time going to your managers manager or ethics/hr, I did about the exact same thing happening. I even had managers who my manager said had told him I did not do my job stand beside me to say it was BS lies. Did they listen to all my evidence, no, they started a retaliation wave against me that had me sitting with no work for over 4 months at a time, humiliated, no raise or bonus for over 5 years and eventually fired for providing the EEOC evidence requested to substantiate my claims. Wells will never change, get out while you can.

My manager is a director in credit risk and part of the good old Wells club. My review was written with such poor grammar and sentence structure that it in self is a testament of his lack of competence and communication skills. But he is good at networking. These performance reveries should have really gone through more stringent quality assurance. The language and words he caused are even borderline discriminatory and inappropriate.

@fpy+1nUd2wXn They are obviously not checking my manager’s reviews. He has us write our own and copies and pastes them. He doesn’t read them, so we just submit the same ones every year. Twice. It’s a huge joke and everyone knows but him.
This has been going on for years. Nobody has noticed yet.

I have lots of evidence to prove my manager’s lies. I am waiting for the right time to bring legal action. For now I will wait to see how my bonus will be impacted and what he will do next. . Revenge is a dish best served cold.

Only if they were publishing it to the public. Employee reviews are confidential, thus they can say anything they want as far as libel/slander is concerned. Contact the NLRB if they are outright lying though. That's the only government agency I know of that is at least "supposed" to help, though in my experience that isn't the case because they're swamped.

wf does random spot checks on reviews and managers are held accountable for writing quality reviews.
