Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Why does the company lack mature, seasoned managers?

Why are there so few mature, seasoned managers capable of making good decisions? On most of the teams I've been on, I've seen managers not knowing who is doing the work, easily taken in by the "BS artists" on their teams, very susceptible to ego st-----g from their Direct Reports vs results, and petty, showing favoritism, just in it for themselves and their friends & not managing like they were hired to do.

RTO is a "new guy" plan, not an old guard plan. What are you ever talking about? The long termers were already WFH and loving it when these recent executive turds screwed everything up. CS, SP, and the rest of that merry band of mo--ns are the root cause of RTO. They also often cite the benefits of RTO to newbies, while ignoring the detriment to everyone else.

all the ones i’ve encountered are over seasoned. it’s time for them to retire and hit up pickleball bc speaking from the Millennials perspective the Baby Boomer RTO 40hr work weeks are antiquated and we don’t care to collaborate in person. please take this 90s thinking out the door

Maybe in your area. In mine all the great managers are over 20. The newer ones, well, a few are ok but it's far from the norm.

Have you worked elsewhere in corporate America? WF isn’t alone in hiring incompetent managers.

Any manager whose tenure at wf is over 20 years, is good at hiding. Most would never be able to get another management job, because they have no real clue how to manage. These good ol boys are the ones that were brought up as it was just the next step, did not need any experience, and you can tell.. You don't see that any longer at wf, thank God, because most are useless.

Because they are focused on hiring non-experienced millennials who stroke the sack just right and swallow.

My department has knowledgeable managers, yet we are not in a hub, so I guess it doesn't matter what you know, don't know or what you actually get done!!!

Wells Fargo legacy management is corrupt and it’s well known. That is why CS has replace many of them. Things won’t change until all director and above gone.

I have been told by my manager that if/when they go I am the recommended replacement. I would be a terrible manager but F it. If the pay is right.

It's the WF culture. It almost feels like the less you know the more likely you are to be in management. It's a huge part of the reason WF has been caught up in scandal after scandal.

some of the managers teams were cut just to the point of them retaining a team. plus it probably pays well in Area 0 so they stay.

treats us like children --talks down to us.....thinks he's Charlie running the show.

WF does not have the HR system/resources in place to appropriately track and reward individuals based on true merit. Everywhere you look people are in positions based on the path of least resistance. Maybe they stuck around long enough and they were the default choice and/or there was the ol' boys club factor.

Little does WF do right, yet somehow there is still some semblance of a company that is trending more positive than otherwise.

Only those of us within are filled with disgust. I imagine this is what a fast food worker feels like, knowing where/how the food really is made and thus not opting to favor it.

If the manager was good, they knew they deserved better and have already left.

Over 10 years since I had any semblance of a decent manager.

Sad thing is all are still managers at WF except 1 who is an individual contributor (not by her choice) and 2 who were displaced.
