Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

WFC = 45.46

The pop from Charlie’s $30 Billion Buyback announcement lasted less than one week.

(Don’t cry that I don’t know how stock buybacks work. I know the legalities well. He has been buying stock all along, so the $35 Billion he has already wasted hasn’t improved the optics.)

If Charlie really wants the stock to sustain a rise in price - he is going to have to do the work to get us out from under the Asset Cap. Investors can see right through his window dressing.

I’ll be back to say hi when the stock is down below $40. 😉

Ridiculous thread. People please stop giving credence to the ignorant troll posting on this topic. Buybacks can be BUT are not inherently bad.

Homer thought the additional buyback would motivate other buyers. In reality, shareholders are glad to have a buyer to unload their positions on to.

Relax when it comes to stock as it is and always will be a roller coaster.

Incompetent thread. People - the buyback happens over the course of a year, not in a couple weeks!!!! Sometimes buybacks don’t even meet the targeted level as adjustments are made due to changing market conditions. If you actually work at WF, you should at least learn about the mechanics of a buyback or keep quiet!

Maybe use about $1B to pay off the right politicians to get rid of the cap

Banks are just big corporations with lots of favor with the politicians. We will have to face reality and lower our expectations.

Incompetent leadership + WF too big for corrupt execs to manage.

RULE #1:
You have to CARE about a company in order to have any hope of leading it out of difficult times.

CS and crew don't given a dämn about the company or the employees.

BOD doesn't care either, otherwise they would have picked a CEO who cares.

Consider this :$30 bn stock buyback planned + $35 bn buyback completed/spent, since CS became CEO in 10/2019.

Compared the $ 65bn spent / to be spent vs. current WFC market CAP of ~ $170 bn.

Do the math. Shame on CS & Co. and the BOD!

I had a chat with a former colleague that was horribly treated by his (incompetent) management, setup to fail and finally given a package.

An interesting observation he made was that the we basically gut the leadership and bring in all these good ole boys/girls from JPM, BofA, etc. and all would be fixed. So we're here 4 years after CS came in and nearly that many with various other folks. Dumped a ton of intellectual capital and things are not really any better and arguably worse in some aspects. Oh sure, we aren't just fraudulently opening accounts anymore (that we know of). But it's all a career game for many of these people now and nothing much is going to change even with this leadership.

If CEO Compensation was actually pay for performance, Charlie would owe the bank money.
