Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Hate to say it - Displacements on 8/8/203

And Yet another round on 8/8/2023. Gotta move them goalposts i guess. Not Fake news, although there will be deniers, and Charles in Charges minions out to Deny this i’m sure. For some, they have already been notified. For others, this will be there new notification.

You don't think recruiters have access to the HR system to determine if someone was a former employee and the termination reason? Seems like something they may need to know for their role.

No one is supposed to have access to systems they don't require access to, so recruiters don't have access to the list of layoffs since that isn't required for their job. If they did have access, then that's yet another controls failure at WF.

HR got advance notice because many have system access that would allow them to see it in advance anyway. It wasn't a "rules for thee, not for me" scenario. Imagine your entire team having access to see who will be laid off before it is announced.

The tinfoil hat crowd shows up in numbers here.

“I know several people impacted in different groups, all laid off on 7/25. I don't know anyone in DSM, so I have no idea what happened there, but this idea that there weren't a significant number of layoffs on 7/25 is a lie or simply ignorance.”

And then “ I don't really care about the predictions of specific dates that you incessantly get hung up on.”

🤔

You clearly do care or else you wouldn’t be here arguing over and over about how they totally happened, despite the total lack of anything confirming them. So quit this bizarre projecting about who is hung up on it. You were wrong and it’s plain as day to anyone with half a brain reading this that you’re making every excuse in the book to avoid admitting it. There’s no use arguing with you anymore.

8/8 date confirmed for large layoffs. its completely ridiculous that recruiters were allowed to have pre-notice when senior managers and staff running customer facing operating teams cant even get it. rules for thee and not for me, indeed

I know several people impacted in different groups, all laid off on 7/25. I don't know anyone in DSM, so I have no idea what happened there, but this idea that there weren't a significant number of layoffs on 7/25 is a lie or simply ignorance. Either way, you're wrong. I don't really care about the predictions of specific dates that you incessantly get hung up on. Whether it's 7/25 or 8/8 isn't relevant in the grand scheme. I didn't publish either one. Obviously people make bogus claims here all the time, it's the nature of an anonymous forum. Regardless, we're being annihilated as a work force and that DOES matter. If I posted up that 500 people will get fired on a specific Monday, and it turns out that they get fired on Tuesday instead, the most important thing to you is that the day was inaccurate. The most important thing to sane people is that 500 people got laid off this week, most of which probably didn't deserve it. I could care less about the specific timing, I never make any claims about the timing unless I know with certainty because I'm personally involved.

When you get canned, make sure to come back to tell us whether or not it was a "mass" layoff that day and the specific timing. Inquiring minds will want to know. Well, not really, but do it anyway.

HR getting special advanced notice that nobody else got sure sounds a lot like "rules for thee and not for me." It's not like HR is working on something uniquely more important than any of the rest of us laid off. All of us were in the middle of one thing or another.

For example I had just built new lab equipment and of course per requirements locked everything down with a complex, unique password. They laid me off before I could properly hand off the information to our department password manager because that was among the things we relied on another team to help with.

Result: Somebody had to completely rebuild all the affected lab equipment because nobody else had the password and they didn't give me enough time to do turnover correctly. I got the bare minimum done and then my access was cut off.

Recruiters sort of make sense as I did hear there is a hiring freeze across multiple LOBs expected to go through year end. I also heard about additional cuts in Control next week, but that has been happening all year, guessing it will continue unless Control gets some more pillars under Kiker instead of Herman.

8/8 is the official notice date for those folks in HR that got told last week. That means on 8/8 their "notice period" of 60 or 90 days (depending on state) starts, and then applicable severance after that.

The HR folks got what is called "pre notice". It's pretty rare and requires special approval/circumstances. I suspect it is because they are all working with internal clients (hiring managers) so they needed to give them time to wrap up a transition. (I am a hiring manager with open req and my recruiter got hit... but she doesn't know who will take over my case yet...)

Lol, that nutcase is quadrupling down because he can't admit he got taken for a ride on the 7/25 thing. There just wasn't some mass layoff of a thousand of non-hub people, let alone 800 in DSM. No WARN notices (like there were for much smaller ones), no news stories, nothing.

**Nobody is denying that layoffs are happening generally...because there's proof of them. You keep attacking this strawman you've built. that no layoffs are happening, which nobody claimed, while also trying to handwave away the specifics of the original, fake claim you somehow keep believing, because you know that proves it's wrong.**

You can't retroactively claim "oh well the date doesn't matter" "oh well actually it's 8/8". Because for some reason you want to believe in the idea of a mole in the system who's giving out cryptic warnings to fight for the good guys (sound familiar?) RIP guy said 7/25, and you believed him. You can't attribute layoffs not on 7/25 to his prescient warning.

I don't know if you have an intellectual disability or what but you really shouldn't be commenting online if you're struggling that hard with this, let alone working with people's money.

Good lord, give it a rest goalpost guy. 5000-7000 people have been laid off so far this year and 2-3 times a week you have to pipe up to claim that there's no "big" layoffs happening or that someone's prediction was off by a few days. The company is literally firing people as fast as their HR pipeline is capable of doing it. The pedal is to the floor. They can't go any faster. Just because you don't think any specific date is "big" doesn't mean that the domestic WF workforce isn't being systematically wiped out, because it is.

HR is just not about displacements and recruiting. HR handles many things such as ensuring that systems owned by HR are working effectively. Remember, recruiting and performance reviews? They are also accountable to the regulators for making sure that we are treating people equitable 3-D performance process which I know is laughable for many people on this site so I know I’ll get downloaded here and that’s totally cool. All I’m saying is HR is more than what you even know. And they’re all being sacked. So think about it a bit more strategically folks. If you don’t have HR people to do some of the basics, what does that say about how we’re moving forward as a company well, not much because we’re probably not going to be doing much hiring at least stateside.

HR (Mainly Recruiting) hit very hard, those effected were informed 7/26. 8/8 is their specific end date.

OP is desperately clinging to 8/8 as a conspiracy cope rather than admitting there was no big 7/26 event. And when nothing happens on 8/8 he'll move the goalposts even further.

If HR is getting sacked, who's gonna handle the remaining sacking?

Specifically, if you want it, HR is about to get heavily sacked. Some people have been made aware previously that this is coming.

And it’s not just about August 8. If people don’t know by now, this is happening continuously an ongoing. This is the environment we are in.
