Stankey one-upped Morgan Stanley’s James Gorman’s “New Blood” comment

It seems that Stankey has one-upped Morgan Stanley’s CEO. Not only did Stankey call out the old folks but he made it clear that younger employees are needed.

You can search the comment Gorman made and the impact it has on Ageism suits. We may never see the replay of Stankey’s comments. This “old” CEO’s are no longer sharp enough to hold their positions - haha

I hear that young whipper snapper Sam Bankman-Fried is available for hire. He just avoided jail time and any sentencing so maybe T can swoop him up. I am certain he can help rejuvenate and figure out ways to capitalize on tech/future.

I am not sure anyone can state verbatim what JS said. As has been posted on this site, he made remarks suggesting the older workforce needs to be replaced by a younger workforce who will better understand our customer base. It was ironic that all the execs on the stage at the time could be considered old. Certainly JS himself is old, and he said he was during the meeting. The fact the meeting has not been posted internally tells everyone that T is concerned about what was said. They find time to post videos of id--ts eating hot peppers but will it do the same for a meeting discussing the great earnings (that is what they say) and how great our customer service is (which by the way has been disputed by multiple agents on Yammer / viva engage). What a friggin joke. How these people look at themselves in the mirror everyday is unbelievable.

I think T is looking for new blood to jump start the company and turn it into more than a telecom. Which is what they've been trying to do with TW, DTV, etc. They wanted automation and now leveraging their ChatGPT crud. I feel they're just hoping the young hires will rejuvenate and figure out ways to capitalize on tech/future. It's as if leadership wants to be put down, like an old dying dog. It's not just about the aging workforce. Sure the aging workforce do great work but they're not revolutionizing the company.

Can't say I blame their past mistakes all on their decisions, but largely after not having the appropriate staff/leaders in place to execute better strategy. IDK its all FUBAR no matter how you slice it. These are aging geriatrics reaping millions from the company who have no direction and are just as complacent as their employees.

Call your lawyer ASAP. Don't jeopardize your case by waiting.

The location strategy was specifically to target people who have kids in high school or older therefore targeting people who are not older than 35.. How will they defend making older people apply for their jobs then not hiring them. This seems legit.

Except there is an issue - there are more old people in the population than younger people. We are actually going to face a shortage of workers in the coming years.

Except from an advisor hub article that references MS CEO’s “new blood” comment dated 6/23/23:

“When CEOs talk about “firing people who make the most money” that’s been deemed by courts to amount to “another way of saying age discrimination,” Trulock said. Although “new blood” comments are not always presumed to mean age discrimination, “Managers who say things like that have to be educated that you can’t do that,” she said.

When a CEO makes the types of comments that Gorman made, plaintiff lawyers will likely be motivated to file discrimination claims and the company may “have to go through the time and expense of showing that here’s the exact reason why this person was let go, as opposed to a different person,” and “they’ll have to prove that in court,” Trulock said.
The good news for Morgan Stanley about Gorman’s bluntness is its timing. He made his remarks after the layoffs already took place, and lawyers defending a company in such a situation could argue that his talk didn’t influence the decision makers who were determining whom to hand pink slips, Trulock said.”

I’m sure T legal team has documentation ready to go that proves location vs age. Nothing is going to happen Stank regarding his comments, unfortunately.
