I've set up my home PC to do screen recording and will be recording as many of the future town hall type meetings as I can.
Did anybody find a copy of the transcript or somehow have the video? I just checked and it is no longer available on the company portal - This did not look unusual as all of the past videos around that time are no longer accessible.
He has been doing this for years.

Before I left T, I pulled a list of employees from the Employee Event database. It used to allow one to look up Birthdays, just day/month, for anyone along with their NCS data.
Numbers for IT were staggering. A fair number of people over 40 years, huge majority employees were in the 25-35 years of service. Probably 70% or more.
The balance was the rest.
Few employees were in the 10-15 years of service. Under 10 years, was literally a countable number of people. Under 5 years, think was under 25 people.
So, what Stankey said, while totally distasteful, is absolutely true. IT definitely needs a better mix of employee ages.
IT had some fairly knowledgeable employees, but most teams I thought were over staffed. I know our team was very overstaffed.
Since IT has such an older crowd, newer IT technologies and ways are just not widely adopted.
As a former employee laid off few years ago, I tell my two sons of "Gen Z" era to avoid looking for a job at at&t, and not to waste their time in life.
I’m a younger worker at AT&T and I do applaud him for saying that. Yes, that will make people mad but it is true. I do feel like some of the aspects of AT&T are very old and us as the new generation want to make changes to these old ideologies. Some of us are new and just graduated like myself, but we also want the same change you all want too.
I predict today’s call will cost more than the failed T-mobile purchase did. Age discrimination lawsuit anyone?
Sn-t nosed Gen-Z kiddies wouldn’t want to work for this archaic, stodgy, stuffy mismanaged “SS Titanic”. Besides that, most of them have jacksquat for work ethic. Albeit, they’ll “work” much cheaper & are (very) easy to dupe + control.

We brought in a bunch of younger people in the central office. They’ve died and gone to heaven. Refuse to work at all.

He's not wrong, we do need younger people. He's definitely wrong by scraping people out that are established. He's cutting off the torch passing, which has led to years of inexperienced service representatives conducting customer abuse and leading to losses in sales. We are major contributors to our communities. Families, raising younger generations that will remember how att systemically laid off their mom or dad.
Its fine, we'll all bounce back. The sweater crew only has one tune and will have to do the hard work, finding the younger people, after disemboweling several layers of frontliners while protecting themselves. No company will ever hire them because they can't figure out how to break the cycle of following the markets. Hire up! Fire them! Hire! Fire!
To the younger, unaffected people on these boards wondering if they are the young that Stankey covets - the answer is no, he's not talking about you either. Att employees, craft or manager, former, or existing, regardless how long you have worked for Att, are not who Stankey is talking about. He is referring to the people he can't get. The second he surpluses any one of us, we become untouchable to him.

Already called an attorney. I cannot believe what I heard on that call. Stankey wants a younger workforce, experience doesn't matter, and age was a factor in determining your future with AT&T?! Everyone heard him say it OUT LOUD. Your age will be used either for or against your employment status. Anyone who loses their job and is over 40 will have a huge lawsuit against the company. The CEO of AT&T admitted to age discrimination on a company level for making business decisions. He better get out the checkbook. This is going to cost him more than one of his crazy acquisitions.
MAKE SURE you fill out the survey and be honest (disagree all the way). I definitely do not recommend T as a good place to work.
Are they gonna fire us over it? No. It’s called workplace retaliation protections. But for reals, those of that will not be here a year from now, it won’t matter. Be honest! Be real.
Stankey wasn't wrong. There are a lot of dead weight lifers at T.
Like a half-time pep rally when the team is down by 9 touchdowns and they're still cheering about how great everything is. It's almost sad to realize how clueless these people are to what is really going on in the company.
I just replied to the Webcast survey with nearly unanimous "Disagrees". For the last question requesting open feedback I commented: "Very surprised to hear leadership openly admit that expertise and experience doesn't matter and AT&T needs a younger workforce. If it wasn't already, it's now clear one of the company goals is toe "rationalize" older employees.
Stank flat out said “we need younger employees”. Wow. of course he and his cronies aren’t included in that statement. So glad I’m leaving.
Gen Z's are basically between 9 to 24 yrs old, I am assuming at 21 you just barely graduated college and hustling your way into the workforce, while I understand HE wants to attract those fresh out of college... but the RTO and work is WHERE you need to be IS NOT SOMETHING THAT the GEN Z wants! I am a generation right before this and I am OUT.

Seriously - when you look at the top talent at this company..Stankey, Mcelfresh, Legg,,,it certainly doesn't; inspire confidence....None of them could get a senior level position at other companies...why? Because they never produce.

He basically said that our employee demographics skewed too old and that we need to attract younger people and hinted that we need to push aside the oldest people. Wish I recorded that.
It’s one thing to say that we want to be an attractive employer for new grads and the like but what said sounded basically like we need to get rid of the older employees and replace the them with younger workers. This is a pretty blatant admission of age discrimination.
If they truly want to hire Gen Z, this whole “you don’t matter” mantra has really got to change and right quick. Gen Z is all about themselves, their feelings, their contributions, their “feels” and their social media.

Jeff McSelfish "It's not about the individual ...it's about the team". Well the "J" for Jerk Team or John, Jeff and Jeremy are open and honest about how much distain they have for older employees. Your team is driving the company off a cliff. I will be eating popcorn 🍿 as you crash it.

And remember, you, as an individual, don’t matter. Your responsibilities, knowledge and achievements don’t matter. We’re a TEAM. So train your replacements (or not, who cares) and run on someone else’s treadmill when we cut you loose because we’re a team and the team will continue long after you’re gone and who cares how bad/hard it is because TEAM.

Just wow! The comment on we need Gen Z employees just hit like a ton of bricks. I cannot imagine a Gen Z'er going into any of the customers I sell to, and selling what I sell for this company. They do not have the knowledge of the product sets to do what I do, and they would come in with their little young smirks, get shown the door, and told never to come back. This company is finished.
The first ones to complain about RTO were the 20 somethings not wanting to go back in the office and talked about leaving....older employees are more okay with returning to office but the moving is complete BS

It’s clear after this call that the next step forward for the company is to hire Gen Z to make sales via tik tok videos. Newsflash stinky, gen z doesn’t want to work at dinosaur att and go into dark offices without games and snacks. Do you think this company appeals to any of the young demographics? They want remote jobs and to become social media influencers not sell cell phones and internet
All the contractors doing a fine job in India are young.
By the way what 20-something with options would pick AT&T as its first choice?
