Someone mentioned this in one of the threads below. How often do trainees get paid more than the person training them? Is it common here?

It happens 100% of the time. If you've been here longer than 4 years, I guarantee you are making less than the new kid they just hired for you to train. I promise.

Extremely common. It’s SOP. The longer you are here the worse you are paid and treated.
Well, the yearly furloughs knock out my below inflation merit increase every year. So factually I get paid less every year.
Let’s not forget years there is no raise. The compounding effect of that lasts for the remainder of your time at Honeywell
Honeywell pays new hires a competitive rate at the time of hire. Then, each year, Honeywell pays a very minimal merit increase that is below the rate of inflation. In effect, anyone who sticks around in the same position for more than a couple of years is underpaid. It happens all the time where a new hire is paid more than the experienced person providing the training.
I was a lead engineer getting paid less than the senior engineer beneath me.
my team was desperate to hire a new person. this individual was brought in at a pay well beyond their skill level. it has driven dissidence among the team. contractors are paid higher hourly rates because they can be billed directly against the customers without benefits paid, causing the company to make more. we are not happy about the low skill coming in.
I can confirm, I trained 10+ new folks in 2021/2022, all of them were making more than me.
