Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

It's not about results

Beyond RTO badge swipes, what I've seen is a company culture revolving around being #1 on a scorecard, not on results that help the business.

There's been too many hyper focus items (beyond the disastrous acquisitions) that just don't really make any sense if making money is the goal. Everyone just trying to look good in their own corner of the company to get themselves promoted

@1ijo+1nEcHpgL said it perfectly.

I’m number one in door swipes. I hit that thing at least thirty times a day. I want to make sure they see it.

Two acronyms: DEI, which is dying a slow, painful death, and ESG which can’t die fast enough. Throw in centralized banking and soon to be central bank digital currency, and companies no longer need to worry about profits. Their major goal becomes compliance. To get to compliance, they need an enslaved workforce that “complies”. Welcome to the Digital Orwellian Dystopia.

Every little change for no added value (Amplify, Quantum, wtf else) is for someone's resume!!

When the company went to the individual contributor metrics for bonuses it put more salary at risk and became a game, survival of the fittest or who can be the most unscrupulous . It’s driven bad toxic behavior, managers need to be concerned about the flavor of the month green dashboard checkmarks, metrics for bonuses and their managers up the line bonuses because, their job depends on It. The customer and any direct reports are an afterthought. Seen it happen over and over since SBC took over.

It was much better under the old management style, customer driven, valued and empowered employees, little change in policies and the stock price was stable.

VPs that need to make a name for themselves with a new initiative is almost always the culprit.
