No, they don't. If people DID believe it, it wouldn't help them crush morale and get people to quit. They know full well that we "know", and they are glad that we do.

Simplifying the RTO requirements for tech. Here’s a great way to pick the next people for layoffs. If you thought the old RTO policy for tech was too complicated, please turn in your badge. What BS corp speak. Do the people writing this stuff really think we believe it?

@1xpm+1nM1eAL2

It makes perfect sense if the objective is to pi-s tech people off so much that they leave voluntarily.

It's a stupid objective, but all signs suggests that's the purpose for RTO with a secondary objective of capturing some tax benes in a few cities.

Everyone should know that TK will do whatever Charlie wants and make someone else the bad guy. She operates under plausible deniability. She will protect her paycheck no matter what because she knows she is not qualified for this gig and all her BofA peers knew that. She will keep practicing her Tik Tok dance moves, throw on culture appropriations saris and keep taking Selfies to show she is one with the people, when she is not.

How can they claim all tech employees are required to be in office when a decent number are full time remote?

Keeping remote workers guessing with vagueness here. Just say what the plans are for god's sake.

This is the d-mbest thing these "B" team a$$holes have come up with. And why did this come from TB and not TK. What a f'ing coward.

btw-- TB has two remote directs and only one of them meet span of control guidelines. Why the F do we even need an Exec level person + at least a few SVPs for DEI? We're, you know, laying off people all over the place.

It makes zero sense for many of us to be in the office. Nobody I work with is in my office or even city. And the rest of the people I directly work with are all in different cities. My boss is in a different city as well. I got in and guess what-- I use my headset and teams to collaborate.

The water cooler in India maybe. Here in the US people are driving to half empty buildings to collaborate virtually with people elsewhere and to make sure that Charlie gets his checks from the cities he's forcing people into. FRTO. "Better Together" died when they decided to hire 100,000 people in India. The execs pretending the corpse is alive like a bad version of Weekend at Bernie's doesn't change that fact. We're not buying it, and never really did.

No, it would be a fantastic benefit to the environment, our over crowded highway system, energy independence, and life-safety if millions of people that didn't need to didn't drive to work.

Would it really be that bad for the planet if we changed how we approach work?

"This is part of the ongoing, multi-year journey to bring out colleagues together".

Brilliant executive team. They are bringing people together by forcing them into germ factories, disrupting the decent work-life balance that they had going, and costing them hundreds per month in commute costs. That's really going to get the best and brightest in the group excited about innovating for their employer.

Why not put a few Iron Maidens, The Rack, and a Brazen Bull (Wall St. symbolism FTFW) by the water cooler to help motivate everyone?

No wonder Buffett took his money out as fast as possible once he heard Charlie was hired.

"We will outlast these POSs."

I don't know if talent will outlast them, but they're definitely discarding good talent, and talent has a way of finding its way back into the organization. Current management won't be here forever.

The he-l we won't. They are the buggy whip makers here. Their plan will fail, it's inevitable. Some of our best, brightest, and most experienced have already bailed on this sh-t show. Many have been downsized but a large percentage that remain are fully in the "F Hudson Yards and their BS" mode. That can't possibly lead to good results.

We will outlast these POSs.

Yes! And let's not ignore the hypocrisy of "concern" for the CRE market while simultaneously closing campuses and branches all across the US -- even in hub cities!!!

They didn’t say what feedback they pay attn to :) apparently they heard the people clamoring about the unfairness of having differing rules. Unfortunately, they went the three day route.

Since you are new you will have missed some of the drama.

Our former head of tech, SVB, initially fought against RTO. He was handing out approvals for RTO exceptions to anyone under him who had their manager's approval.

Some managers didn't want to deal with the paperwork and didn't support their teams remaining work from home. Other managers did and got the exception approvals through.

SVB then announces at a town hall that tech did not have to RTO. There was an immediate reaction on the operating committee and SVB had to backtrack. He came up with the idea that Agile teams only had to go in for certain meetings.

SVB has moved on from tech and our new leadership is pushing everyone to go into the office 3 days a week.

In your circumstance, you were hired on not having a work from home exception while your coworkers do. No new hires are getting work from home exception except under the rarest of circumstances. Your coworkers will lose their exception if they change jobs at Wells Fargo. They may also lose their exception if senior tech leadership decides to end it.

This has been in the works for some time. I love how it’s based on employee feedback. Yeah, right. Must be the same employees who say we’re better together.

Here’s my experience over two different offices. Broken sink, 6 desks with missing mice, a video camera that doesn’t work, a video camera missing, no sanitizing wipes at the desk to wipe off the disgusting keyboards. Great. Don’t worry about RTO. We’ll have an outbreak of something and have to go back to wfh.

I think they know the formula to advance attrition and minimize severance - increase RTO to 4 or even 5 days to get it done.

Put on your seatbelts folks!

Welcome to our world, we have been back in the office for 18 months. Makes no sense but no choice if you want to keep your job. They are monitoring badge swipes and if you do not hit 3 days a week it is a policy violation. And it will affect bonus, etc.

FRTO. Lay off everyone at Hudson Yards, they cost a hideous amount of money and are causing a huge amount of damage to this company with their stupidity.

To my allies in tech, welcome to the club. They want to replace you with workers overseas, RTO is just a tool to push resignations. No, it doesn't make any sense. Yes, that's the entire point, to torment you.

As bad as it's going to get, fear not. In the end we will win the Great RTO War. Oppose stupidity to whatever end. We will outlast these worthless POSs.

Why would they mention exceptions when that's what they are? They aren't going to advertise.

It's funny watching you guys lose your marbles asking for severance etc. If you think that's the entire point of this push, I guess it's working.

No way are floors and buildings full. Tye can't find a seat bologna is a terrible excuse.

No, no. Just drag it out. It takes like 6 months to "fire" anybody. Collect a paycheck, have some awkward meetings with your boss who doesn't want to enforce this anyways. They'll put you on a PIP - almost as good as severance.
