AI will affect jobs way before the government reacts to anything. This is all just good old capitalism on steroids. Same story, different villains.

I would not worry about any of this! We will go to a single payer. US Gov is the biggest provider of Health Insurance via their programs and that number is only growing with the population getting older and poorer.

It's a matter of time before the Goverment steps in and creates policy that will limit offshoring of work. The Gov has no choice, If we continue to go in this direction, we can expect civil unrest....we cannot have that!

@3jyg+1nLMUIn9 - taxpayers are paying the social costs. Big time. I've seen it a hundred times throughout my tech career. Elevence lays off American workers and gets cheap offshore or H1B labor. Society gets a person who no longer pays Federal, State, Local taxes or into Social Security. Not only that, they collect unemployment funds, free or low cost health insurance because of their new low income - and more. When I was laid off I signed up for every single entitlement possible including 1/2 price public transportation. Why have pride when these big behemoths with triple digit billion dollar market caps can get corporate welfare? What's good for them is good for the little guy. It's no surprise that in an AP-NORC survey, 85% of US adults say that things in the country are headed in the wrong direction, with just 14% believing things are going in the right direction.

Healthcare costs are paid for by American. Then we offshore as much as we can, when it is not possible, we use h1b and opt visa to replace some of the workforce.

We assume tax payers and other companies will pay the social costs in helping the middle class American workers. Where do you think America is going when everyone is doing exactly the same?

Again ? IBM, Deloitte, whoever can make the best presentation gets the job. Then they don't deliver what was presented. Then if you need anything out of the contract it's a battle, extra $$ . Correct, and typically you can't apply. You may be asked to join or become IBM , I wouldn't do that , if that comes up, That happened to some friends where Anthem said you will get laid off but IBM will pick you up, people took that offer to stay employed, from experience don't do it. This also could be part of a strategy for returning people to the office if people are not coming back due the new criteria. Blessings to you all hope not many will be impacted

Strangely not many leaders (except couple) are impacted but more than half US work force is affected in csbd. Associates impacted cannot even apply internally… what a show case for modern day slavery and yet company claims for equal opportunity provider…

All of offshore Claims IT and about 75% of on shore Claims IT. But almost no managers or "leaders". Funny how that works, isn't it?

Anthem has been down this road with IBM several times in the past. It has never worked before. It's always been a failure.

Fool me once... Fool me twice... more than that, you're (Anthem) just a fool.

Those of us transitioned won't be around too long. Go take a look at all of the layoffs on the IBM page on this site.
