Furloughs In Aero

Heard from a very reliable source that furloughs were announced for one of our Aero offshore divisions for Aug 7 and 21. Bet we get an email here in the states any second now…

HBT was severly damaged few years ago by destruction of R&D. It has no new products and current lineup has issues with end of life componets. There is no future unless you see some significant investments into R&D. And even if this miracle happen, it will take at least 3-4 years before new teams will do some change. So, tighten your seatbelts, it will be quick ride.

Think it’s definitely hitting the US as well got an email for a service meeting on the bottom says meeting is the 15th to accommodate those out the week of the 8th. Think this dude just slipped up and dropped the bo-b might be his last email lol! Your manager knows about it a few weeks ahead of time (they did last time). Be ready for the news.

Yes Aero furloughs are coming, just after the others. We got emails with a fake “urgency” to it to stop all travel, including cancelling travel already booked. Like they didn’t know this was coming.

So, furloughs-but your goals don’t change and you aren’t allowed to slip in your schedule, so you are expected to make it up with overtime before or after. Then no travel. Then bits and pieces types of layoffs and or major ones because heck why not wipe out entire departments?…it’s all part of the game if you were unfortunate enough to get caught up in this horrible company.

Same old same old with them. Finally at the point where I can happily say that if they offer a voluntary layoff I’m taking it.

Here's a good one. I just read a Honeywell review on Blind that said 'a good thing about Honeywell is that they regularly furlough to stop layoffs' I nearly fell off my chair.

My state allows for a 1 week "waiting" week. All weeks laid off after that are paid. When you serve your first week of furlough, file. Then all weeks after that are paid through the end of the calendar year. The weeks do not have to be contiguous. Plus, it impacts Honeywell's insurance in a negative way for them.

It's virtually impossible to get unemployment from a 2 week furlough.

They split it into 2 separate weeks, and most states will not grant unemployment until you have been unemployed over 1 week.

I left last month and am so glad I did. The leadership is maintaining their big compensation packages by squeezing from the people who work hard every day. Nobody else is doing furloughs or layoffs right now. This is not the same market as when Covid hit. This is just plain greed. Either dairy a-s is still driving and pretending not to, or VK is going to be just like him. I’m really sorry for everyone who is still stuck there.

Furloughs, Layoffs, not good. The REAL issue is HW simply doesn’t have a good package to offer new employees compared to other similar companies. They are shortchanging their current employees for the benefit of their CEO ‘s and stockholders. It’s pathetic and embarrassing. Only the stragglers still hanging on to the Pension promise remain. High turnover . And this is a Fortune 500 company?!? SMH they don’t value their workforce AT ALL.

I have discouraged more than a coupe of engineering prospects from pursuing a career with Honeywell. I am proud that they have gone to other companies. Until Honeywell decides to meet its commitments to its employees, I will be happy to continue to provide valuable instructions to younger individuals as to Honeywell's lies and promises. Honeywell needs to change.

if there are furloughs, that also probably means hiring freezes

I’ve been asked by several people interested in jobs with Honeywell and I do mention if they go that direction they’ll need to account for 2 weeks of unpaid weeks of furlough in their salary negotiations.

NOTE: If you're furloughed you may be qualified for Unemployment from your State - even for a week! Check with your State to see if they support it, then get signed up in advance of the furlough so you can get paid. When I worked for Moneyhell I went through MANY furloughs without ever knowing this little "detail." It's interesting that NEVER did anyone in HR mention that employees might be able to draw unemployment before the fact. However, I did get unemployment pay during my last furlough before forced retirement. Good luck.

There are many people who live from paycheck to paycheck. Furloughs can really damage a family's pocket book. If a furlough really helps the company, perhaps the company can make a salary reduction instead? Oh, but then it is hard to hire without offering competitive wages. To me, furloughs are a fundamental sign that a company is failing. Honeywell has been failing for a while and is continuing to fail. Will the executives that are responsible for this failure ever be held to account? I doubt it. Just like politicians, they can never admit to a fault. Sad.

They might have made their numbers. I guarantee most of the parts were scrapped. Which resulted in rework.

They all lie around here. Everybody says they have their numbers so they can get a bonus. Yet! We have Boeing, Lockheed, and other customers. Demanding their parts on a daily basis.

1ggc…

Give me a break. For many of us these constant 1 week furloughs = mortgage payment, car payment etc. You can only have so much in savings to take a 50% paycheck hit once/quarter. They do cause financial hardship.

I wondered if that would happen. Even though Aero made their numbers maybe there was an edict from on High that they have to participate to help the Corp numbers.

I would think that they could have figured that out up front.

Wait, what am I thinking????

Having forththought?

Being told you're not being impacted then...

SURPRISE!

At least they'll let us know soon.
