Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

wave 1 severance (Legg)

wave 1 letters going out in Legg org and the wording is that if you turn down relocation, you will be declared surplus and then are eligible for the rules of severance as currently documented on the AT&T website. You will then get another letter as to your off payroll date. You are given about 30 days to make your decision (mid August is decision due date).

If you accept relocating, you are expected to report to your new location in Jan 2024.

If you accept relocating and change your mind after you give your decision and don't show up to the new location, then you are declaring that you are leaving voluntarily and you forfeit severance.

Are wave 1, 2, and 3 dates public knowledge? if so, does anybody know when Wave 2 and 3 are happening?

And official notice was just a protected email which you can’t even forward to your personal email.

Just take pictures with your phone

It probably depends when budgets allow them to fill your replacement. Once found, you're done.

Got my 2nd letter yesterday - kind of confused on the "you can expect to be off payroll before the end of the year, possibly early December" does it mean they'll give you 2 weeks to get out any time between now & Dec? Just drag it out... uggg

“If you accept relocating and change your mind after you give your decision and don't show up to the new location, then you are declaring that you are leaving voluntarily and you forfeit severance.”

So you’re trying to say we won’t have a legg to stand on.

Lots of homes going on the market this fall!

You have to be pretty d-mb to sell your home to follow a dying company.

Not saying someone might get relocation but no level 2 that I know of has.

All they are offering to those is a referral to a relocation company that might help them with their move but the actual cost is entirely on the employee. It's possible that company is offering a discounted rate but like anything, you probably can get just a good a deal by shopping around on your own.

If they don't get enough people, there could be a second letter offering subsidized relo.

Nothing but a crapshoot.

Come on silly, no relocation for the lower management peons. The goal is to reduce headcount, not move everyone around the country.

If u have critical skills you would not come here to ask what is for sure you don’t have it.

What's a "critical skill set"? Sleeping at the job, because there's nothing to do?

Can anyone confirm if they are offering severance for those in sales who can't move to Dallas?

"On the manager's salary you've made all these years? That's on you."

Stoooop! Not all "managers" make tons of money. Many managers will never see 6 figures or didn't until they'd been with the company about 25 years if they aren't L2+. We don't know anyone's financial circumstances, but it's not out of reason that someone who doesn't find another job quickly to cover their expenses may find themselves at risk for foreclosure. Some who make 200K may end up in foreclosure while someone on 50k manages their money well and will never even see a late notice.

If you accept relocation, do they offer any relocation reimbursement/assistance?

Have you really not been paying attention at all?

Not all letters mention relocation, and those that do say something like, "We anticipate offering relocation assistance only in extremely limited cases, so this move will likely be at your own expense,” which should be interpreted as relocation will only be available to those much higher up the org charts.

I was just told by a peer that any sales related positions in Platinum that don't relocate won't get a severance. It's unreal.

Relocation assistance is only being provided for jobs with critical skill sets, so it is usually not available.

I thought relocation $ assistance was only for people that don’t need it. Ie, executives that can afford the cost of moving anyway. Not available for regular workers.
