Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

HR Limiting Your Job Apps to 5!

Anyone see this announcement? HR really su-ks seeing that it has ALWAYS taken 2-3 months to hire someone. With all this outsourcing and layoffs it appears to me that someone decided to tamp down what we’re applying for in the US so they can lower volume.

HOW DOES IT MATTER? If they have a recruiter screening and setting calls, what difference does it make if I’m part of the pool on 15 jobs? They claim we need to focus on our top 5 and are spinning it like we need to be career focused.

I have applied for zero jobs right now but I can tell you if this is their plan they need to clean up their act. They will send an offer letter to someone and leave everybody in limbo while that person negotiates for weeks. I asked a peer about his posting a few months ago and said, “I thought you hired someone for that role.” He said he did and the posting sat there another 3 weeks, after he hired someone. That means all those applicants would be stuck in application limbo during that time.

How about if you all hire some outsourced guy to help you in HR?!?

The only problem with this theory is that the same limits don't apply to externals. Do they want to be "spammed by people who apply for a multitude a jobs" or not?

This is common practice outside of WF. Seems that many of you have been here so long you don’t know how the outside world functions. Companies don’t want to be spammed by people who apply for a multitude a jobs, many of which they are not qualified for. It wastes everyone’s time and they will put your resume in the ‘not a serious candidate’ bucket. Deservedly so.

I’m glad this was posted. I had almost forgot what was in my email and on teamworks front page last week.

The OP exemplifies exactly what everyone complains about being wrong with our workplace. FML

The real question is if they limit external candidates to 5 applications.

I’m betting it has something to do with the fake job postings and fake interviews

  1. Your boss wants to promote you, but HR forces him/her to post the new job and fake interview other candidates
  2. The fake DE&I interviews

Some lawyer has asked them for stats, and they look bad.

Hopefully you don't put attention to detail on your resume.

This wouldn't normally be an issue but when HR takes months to decline you can easily have more than 6 roles you've applied for.
The goal here is two-fold

  1. to hope that you will self withdraw and so they don't have to prove they hired the best candidate.
  2. to make it clear that you are not wanted, they've repeatedly said they are not meeting their attrition goals.

It's a moot point. Are there even 6 or more jobs in your career area and geographic area at one time? Last time I looked, there wasn't for mine.

And I am sitting here listening to the SSO town hall where they're talking about career mobility. What a freaking joke.

Old news, but what this is really about is getting rid of what Hudson Yards considers to be damaged goods, the old guard. They'll use whatever means necessary, while paying lip service to career mobility / advancement.

Do you think if you apply for 10-15 jobs at the same time that ANY company’s HR dept takes you seriously? You get thrown out of consideration almost immediately as not being serious. HR’s job is to find the best candidate & fit, not someone shotg-nning applications for anything just to get out of their current role. This has been this way for years, they’ve just made it public since HR is short staffed as well.
