Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

They want to micro-manage your designation

The company is no doubt finding ways of enforcing designations .. all while the stock price continues to fall. Watching badge swipes, where you're logging in from (LAN/VPN) for what? Is ensuring we're "living our designation" more important than having a high performing team? There's no saving this company.

I never connect to company wifi because there is none at my office. I just access the network using the sim card in my laptop or ipad if I'm there.

to the "I use vpn at the office" commentors they know if you connected to at&t wifi or not. they know if you're on vpn, not thru corp wifi. that's why you have not had issues

" If they want to make sure I’m at the office, then they need to be at the office with me and not tracking me remotely."

But, no, they don't. I know it makes you and the upvoters feel good to say that, but you are being delusional.

You are a metric on a report. You're either in compliance, or you are not. It's that simple.

It's silly, but I am just being real here. It is what it is.

" People have used VPN in the office for years"

Clearly, the times are a bit different. You folks can downvote or not like this, or whatever...BUT that doesn't change the fact that your high VPN use WILL be a flag on the current reporting. You're going to be called out on it. At which time you'll try to explain it away and then you will be told to connect to LAN when you're in the office. Your upper management doesn't want to deal with the headache of having to explain this every time you're flagged.

For the downvoters that don't like this , I get it. Just explaining facts here.

"Not going to work. You’ll simply be in violation of the policy and subject to discipline ,up to and including termination."

Why not? I'm always on ConnectLink at the office and haven't had any issues so far. I have to go into too many meetings to be actually connected to the LAN.

Beyond RTO badge swipes, what I've seen is a company culture revolving around being #1 on a scorecard, not on results that help the business.

There's been too many hyper focus items (beyond the disastrous acquisitions) that just don't really make any sense if making money is the goal. Everyone just trying to look good in their own corner of the company to get themselves promoted

Not sure RTO matters at this point. There won’t be much of a company left after this lead news. Wave 1 people may be the lucky ones

Live that designation! Never mind it’s at double the cost of living and double the crime rate. How’s that company moral now.
