Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

What companies will hire AT&T employees

For the management or professional services employees: What companies have you interviewed with that you have a good chance getting? Having T on your resume longer than a few years seems like a liability. Do we have a chance at FAANG/GAMAM?

For the trolls that keep repeating “get back to work”, you can sit this one out because after you have to look up what it means because you don’t know, none of these elite companies would hire your old dinosaur a$$

The AT&T employees that need to be concerned are upper management and financial departments. They are the ones that drove this company to the ground, not the worker-bees like us.

I'm in ATS and can get a technical job in several places. Not once have I been asked why T is doing so bad because I'm not responsible for that part. What they care about is what I do and how I do it.

My resume has T for over 20 years and I constantly get emails from recruiters looking for my skills.

Chatgpt is lining me up a job at Microsoft. At least that's what it told me.

You are going to really want to downplay your employment at T given its reputation in the industry. In some cases it may be better to pursue entry level opportunities at other companies.

The outsider perspective would be:
why did you stay for so long (5 years or more) after the company treat you so badly?

Is a negative, specially if is your only job.

Employees at Enron and Lehman got jobs elsewhere. Unless you're a known executive your chances of finding meaningful employment elsewhere is high. While the company is certainly being managed in to the ground, we still have some of the most talented employees in the market. I don't see anyone having trouble finding another employer to work for, but it may become more difficult as the company starts to close locations.

It depends on you, if you keep your skills sharp and add to it through self training then the answer is yes, you can easily find a job
If you depend on the daily work you do in T and the training materials offered by T then you are doomed
The only companies use T skills is VZW and T mobile and both have plans to cut and right size the work force

Another stupid comment. Having one of the world largest companies and a telecom giant on your resume certainly isn’t a negative. I’ve had unsolicited inquiries from Verizon, TMO, Comcast, Nokia etc over the last 5 years alone. I’ve no intention of leaving because I enjoy what I do and earn a very good income.

The question is way to broad and does not specify specific job categories.
