Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

I despise RTO with every fiber if my being.

Actual gen Xer here. I despise RTO with every fiber if my being. I really don't care what others think of it by generation. If you love driving to a building for no reason, go for it. It's inefficient horse S that makes me less effective because I'm sitting in a car rather than working those 2 hours every day.

It's been almost 18 months since I started driving in and I have gained absolutely nothing from doing it. No peers, managers, or directs there. I drive in, I get on teams, email, and the phone for a while, and I go home. Other then occasionally distracting me or saying "excuse me" in the hall, there's no interaction between me and others in the building, nor should there be. They have no business need to know who I am or what I'm doing, and vice versa.

F Hudson Yards. Completely worthless fools that have no idea what they are doing.

No, I'm not. Keep cheerleading failed policies. I imagine you loved 8 is Great too. This company needs to stop wasting money on buildings and housing people for no reason. Can the mo--ns in Hudson Yards "do whatever they want"? Sure, they can try. The problem is, they don't actually earn this company any profits, and they are constantly sh-----g on the people that do. This won't end well, and eventually competition will destroy what's left of this company. We can keep making buggy whips and fail or we can adapt to the new reality of the information age and survive. Over a long enough time horizon there are no other alternatives.

Of course they are offshoring jobs with people like you complaining. It’s your own fault honestly, stop being a snowflake and do your job for a company you don’t own. Otherwise move on to the greener pastures you believe exist. 🤷🏻‍♂️

"Not saying everyone needs to come in 5 days a week cos of that 1 example but 3/2 is the perfect balance that is fair to both wells and employees "

Sounds like someone has invested all their money in a commercial real estate REIT.

3/2 was pulled from someone backside. There is no data to support it making any difference.

If they can send your job to India you can do it from home.

When the hub strategy was happening my coworker who was remote in the east coast got placed on the west coast . Ha! They don’t care. If you are at cic it’s better than paying the ridiculous parking fees uptown.

"My commute is 10 minutes. Maybe it's your fault for living so far away from your workplace?"

Imagine you're in CLT. Would you feel differently if Wells moved you to a campus on the other side of town?

I heard the more you cry about it, the better the chances of them cancelling RTO. Maybe cope a little harder as well?

Then get a (remote) job somewhere else. Nobody forces you to work at WF. To whine about something where you have options is beyond pointless.

Also Gen X...

while I understand many people were hired remote long before they decided to do away with it, they can change the terms of your employment however they want. if you don't like the change you have a choice to keave or start a union

It’s amazing how people treat RTO as if the world is coming to an end

We had a guy working on a project make a big mess that boiled down to a misunderstanding on a phone call. He admitted had he been in a room with team interacting and whiteboarding it would not have happened

Totally agree with op biggest waste of time and money to ‘collaborate’ with no one in the office on top of working 16 hour days. FRTO

The gen was mentioned because the OP in this post is a cut/paste from a previous thread about generational differences of opinion about RTO. Try to keep up.

It's not a generational issue, it's a personal choice. No one cares if you're gen x. This is coming from another gen x'r.

Thousands of us were hired as and working remote long before COVID. We didn't know anything was coming until the piece of sh-t in Hudson Yards screwed us for no reason. Gargling his sack isn't going to save you from the upcoming layoff, so stop carrying that mo--ns water.

While I understand the disdain for all the offshoring, I don’t get the hate for RTO. You knew this was coming and should prioritize the job risks accordingly.

Yes, RTO is an exercise in futility and is also a waste of time and money. It's a political agenda, not a logical business decision. That's why so many large corporations are all doing it at the same time. It's been ordered, via Blackrock and Vanguard, because the corrupt politicians they're partnered with can't run successfully on a platform of decimated cities across the nation.
