Thread regarding Gulfstream Aerospace layoffs

The workforce dynamics have changed and Gulfstream is paying for it

GulfStream has been treating employees like cr-p for more than 30 years. There’s nothing new there. The only difference is people have more opportunities to leave and that’s what most are choosing to do.

Gulfstream, like most of aerospace companies managed from the mindset that there were a of skilled workers to hire from and that people were easily replaceable.

The changing workfirce dynamics with the shortage of skilled mechanics, etc. Caught gulfstream unprepared. Given Gulfstream reputation as an employer I don’t see things changing anytime soon.

Workers will continue to leave and the company will continue to struggle to find people to replace some. All of that a direct result of the way they treat their employees.

@Swvt+1lYnbrgZ said it perfectly.

One of the things I have heard and seen is they hire people who have no experience in the field they were hired for. The managers say well maybe they will learn their job. But we look at all of the rework that we we have ahead of us. And there goes the saying "We do it nice because we do it twice". That could be because we are behind in our work load.

There are no HR employees left, the Czarina has rebranded the function to the People Team, apparently that means they are more people friendly, empathetic and responsive.

How many HR employees have left, voluntarily, in the new organization?? Quite a bit of turnover for that organization. That speaks volumes.

They should have not laid off people on a 6 months basis back in 2018-2020.

Yes, replacements will or might be found, the question is will they be qualified as the primary HR directive is to fill the DEI goals not find the most qualified candidates.

Yes talk with your People Partner as I’m sure you’ll find out that they are more clueless now then ever before as the HR Czarina embarks on a mission to create an HR PMO

Talk with your people partner. They are here to help recruit and retain talent!

Unqualified replacements can be found. But by the time they get up to speed, the people that had to spend more time fixing their sc--w ups are burnt out and choose to leave. Gulfstream has found itself in a cycle of new guys training newer guys. Most don't have access to any of the GAMPS and when they do, they don't bother to pull them up. Tribal knowledge is the standard and schedule matters more than quality.

LOL. Replacements will be found? I've seen job reqs open for 4 years now and no one is lining up to take them. The folks who do show up to interview are woefully unqualified or ineligible for the position. HR is too worried about their DEI goals to actually screen competent candidates. Maybe they need a few more ERGs to attract top talent?

Money talks! Replacements will always be found for the right price. The cost will be pushed to customers. I mean, these are customers willing to plonk down $50M for their own jet, with retained maintenance crew and pilots .... so yeah ...

But keep on railing and smokin the re---r and telling yourself how special you are ...
