In the Stankey memorandum sent last month, he asserts that the ruination of AT&T is not due to his poor leadership, poor judgment and poor investments, but rather our inability to collaborate effectively whilst outside of an overcrowded office setting. Included in the letter is a quick quip that “depending on your station in life” you can choose to remain part of a Dallas-centric culture at a company that sells telecommuting products and services. He knows all to well our stations in life because he knows our demographics data - age, s-x, race, geography, family size - and he’s betting on an aging workforce with high school and college age kids being unable to move. His “station in life” quip tips his hat to thinly veiled ageism. The gig is up. When they came for the boomers, we did nothing. When they came for Gen X, Gen X lawyered up!

I know one thing for sure, and it is that the "younger workforce" has no intention of commuting into dystopian cubicle farms. I know plenty of kids graduating in tech, and none of them are looking for the 1980s office experience. They expect to be able to work from wherever they are.
faszier issues
Unfortunately, AT&T has been circling the drain for decades now. There was a brief moment in the sun with the Iphone, then the slide began again. The industry has changed and AT&T has been unable to adapt. There have been lots of attempts (ATTIS, NCR, 4 "George Forman" AT&Ts, AT&T Broadband, Uverse, a failed merger with T-Mobile, DTV, TW, Workplace 2020, and now RTO) . It is sad and painful. All that stuff is in my rear view mirror now. Be careful with any relo you do, you might get to your new office only to find out in a year or two your are on a surplus list again. It happened to several of my friends. Be careful, look out for your own interests and good luck.
I want you to know that I will not make age an issue of this RTO. I am not going to exploit, for corporate purposes, my colleagues youth and inexperience and the fact that they are to be laid off soon. Good luck.
This "We need a younger work force" talk is pure Stank-Thought. And of course it is very ironic too. He's no spring chicken himself. And it shows in his own lack of flexibility. He personally caused TW assets to lose value by alienating the creative people that made the magic. HBO is a shadow of its former self and that is directly due to his lack of adaptability. He couldn't understand that he wasn't running a telecom only anymore.
Wow these comments don’t sound like they came from our side. Can I get a job as a paid commenter. I think most big companies do that
I refuse to engage in any discussion or collaborate with an incompetent hack whose youth, inexperience and arrogance clearly is not worth my time of day. Go scratch.
Old guys holding on to what they did and was well paid for. Now it's time for the new guys to move the company forward.
