Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Craft Layoff Future

The craft representatives have stood-by while our jobs get eviscerated and replaced by low-cost workers. It time to push back.

You pay for a “professional union” to represent your needs. Make them do their job. Any union officer that doesn’t have credentials that show they are qualified to bargain or grieve on your behalf is misrepresenting your paid for services and should be held legally accountable.

How is your bargaining unit working out for you?
What? You need to go collaborate? What, you need to sell your house and relocate your family with no guarantee you will have a job is six months?
I'll take my chances with the Union.

Thanks for playing along.

AT&T officials have been clear about their plans to offer a new FWA service that's mainly designed to retain customers in millions of locations where it is dismantling its copper network and will not offer a fiber alternative. Company officials have called the effort AT&T's "copper catch" program.

The company can still offer craft employees a VTP or SIPP to leave on their own volition rather than T having to wait until 2024 to actually layoff the craft personnel. Either way, they still are obligated to pay severance pay! so, why not do it earlier rather than later? The only difference is if a craft employee is laid-off, then he has callback rights for up to 2 years, but not if you leave voluntarily!

I would not want to restore a 2,600 cut line in the middle of winter or 108 degree day with the sun roasting me. Craft is paid well for the hazards they face every day and treated by some ego managers and 20 somethings poorly. Craft by contract can be terminated for a boss giving them a $10 gift card. And the skill needed to figure out the over 250 marketing DSL package offers is impossible. But marketing wants to track the offer with the longest retention plan.

If you have a bitter craft employee, find out what manager ki-led the morale. Everyone hired starts happy to have a new job. Something ki-led this emotion.

They are starting the contingency planning for management employees in case of a strike in 2024. So stupid the way it is administered

Non-management work force.
Bargained employees—under a CWA
Communication Workers of America work contract.

T would be sticking to us much harder if weren’t CWA. If anything, the union needs to be made stronger.
