Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Luong townhall

He claims his plan has been submitted as of yesterday and needs to be reviewed. He mentioned several times that the plan he submitted was in order to absolutely minimize the numbers on his team that would have to relocate, explaining he classified his team as "local support" vs sales or national. He anticipates that your supervisor will share your office designation with you around the end of the month or first part of July. He explained that there is a list of 30 or so additional "network" locations that his office people would be eligible to report to. Did not share the list, apparently this also needs to be approved. Clarified that the small number on his team that would be asked to relocate pending his plan's approval WOULD be eligible for severance if they choose not to, and for those that want to relocate he expected no relocation funds and that he would push for them not having to relocate until 2024, though it may be by end of this year.

Jeff Luong is awesome. I worked for him when he was a director in San Jose, Ca.

Its very common for VPs to have to submit org changes for senior leadership review. VPs really aren't that 'high' up in the grand scheme of things. I'm an L2 but have worked with lots of officers/VPs - including on org changes and Stankey often times wants to sign off on the changes. Its also a way to make sure that each team doesn't go over the 10% virtual guidelines. Sounds like Luong has found a workaround - it remains to be seen if it is approved....

nothing more than legal approval to hide between eeoc laws

This is the very reason the VPs weren’t consulted to begin with. Every VP has their own plan.

Who do you think Stankey will agree has a better plan than him?

The idea that a VP has to seek his manager’s approval of where L1/L2’s sit is absolutely absurd. That’s what we get for the big bucks? I demand a refund!

There are going to be a lot of VPs that will act like they're trying their best, but their hands are tied. Watch.

As I understand it, many orgs have submitted their plans for approval. I don’t know who has to approve.

Hoping the best for all.

If this is true (and I'll accept that it is), then I have to admire his effort to minimize the spitstorm currently going on.

Of course, this has to be reviewed and approved by Stink & Co, so it's almost certainly going to be rejected out-of-hand and replaced with a plan that causes as much unnecessary complication and pain to the workers as possible,
