Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

ATS "Communities of Interest"

I don't know anyone in ATS who has received "the letter" yet. But in an ATS FAQ which was just modified today, there is a link for a "preview" of where jobs are likely to be located so that people can start "contemplating their decisions". (Direct quote from the FAQ). Clicking on this "preview" link takes you to the ATS "Communities of Interest" page. It looks like this might be the list of where jobs will be relocated to. For example, the Chief Data Office (CDO) will have its primary location in Dallas and secondary locations in Atlanta/New Jersey. I suppose this means that I am going to be asked to move, even though I am currently located in Bothell WA (another one of the "ATS" Hubs... it's known as "Seattle", but Seattle refers to Bothell/Redmond). And here I thought I might dodge the bullet... I know, I know, nobody is "safe", but still! Am I misinterpreting this? As per usual, director said he had no information about it. :(

Can someone share the link for the "ATS FAQ" referenced? I can't find anything on main ATS (aka ANTS) sites.

More exception cities were added so VPs can find places and save their favorites.
No neutral party making sure it’s fair for all.
Look under Network Org under McElfresh - lots of special arrangements under the falsehood of “needed locations”. Put there to get SOME* in — not all. Risky move under guise of specialty when really this is “arbitrary and capricious”

It’s not about relocating it’s about off payrolling people with no severance liabilities. If you move make sure you’d want to live there anyway and other local businesses are hiring. You are at high risk for a layoff because the company expected you to leave. Your name was already on a list regardless of performance. You were a budget reduction already accounted for.

Is this all chimera designed to drive people off payroll, or do they really think the AT&T workforce at large will function in the same way as a coterie of a half-dozen obscenely well-paid executives with "amenities" such as corporate jets and, oh yes Mssrs Stankey and Legg, working remotely from each other?

There sure is a lot of effort going into this, but then again when The Boss says jump, we jump even if it doesn't seem to make sense at our level. All of us have been in THAT situation but figured there was some reason, probably legal or bureaucratic, that made the task at hand necessary.

This seems different, to the point of being sheparded to assigned tables in the school cafeteria settings that now comprise our offices in the hope that finally, at long last, we can get the workforce productive and under control.

Their Board can't say they didn't try. That is the ultimate point, and it's how Stevenson and his clueless little gang got to stay in charge for all this time.

The chart OP describes sounds like the “Final Destination” where each org lists a Primary and Secondary location. Wave 3 type stuff. Ultimately this is what they want. Reality will come into play before it’s all said and done. They will attempt to move people’s work so your group is co-located. Because as you know, we’re going back to the office to collaborate in person, since, you know, that’s what will turn this company around. :-) I guess that means you’ll be restricted to changing jobs in the future to within orgs only at your location. Unless you want to relocate (again).
