Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Mandatory return to office

Honeywell seem to stand firm and puts hard words for mandatory work in office. Do you support this? What's your experience going back to office? Do you think is effective?

A companies WFH policy is an easy barometer to see how much trust/value they have in the employees.

Anyone with any real value and self respect left a long time ago

I left for a real software company and they don’t even care if I’m in the same state.

Not even close to accurate! When your team is distributed throughout the world and you never see them in person, being in the office doesn't matter. And if Honeywell is actually really about going green and retaining people, remote work does both. It's just another sad example of e-suite geniuses worrying about their ability to intimidate and micromanage employees to continue st-----g their own egos. Absolutely pathetic. No wonder the turn over isn't going down anytime soon.

I'm sure people will hate this comment, but it's the policy. I wish we had more flexibility, but at the end of the day, we have to comply or we have a decision to make.

Collaborate? With who? The team you were loaned to some 3000miles away because honeywell couldnt afford to keep your project running?

@2yjx+1n04n5Pk So true! There are some nice global offices but America has the 5hitiest by a long, long way! Honeywell had the actual nerve recently to ask me back and I took great joy in telling them all the reasons why I would never come back even if they doubled the offer. The HR lady seemed pretty depressed before she talked to me, she was f@cking miserable when I finished with her, I 'almost' felt sorry haha!

My cube trash gets emptied everyday. I am in about once a month. And, when I am in, I'm typically not at my desk. So my desk trash probably has something to dump about twice a year? Really sad what Honeywell has done to this once fine engineering office.

2yjx…
Don’t forget we have to take out the trash and our own office cleaning.

Post ID: @2nmq+1n04n5Pk In principal I agree, BUT ONLY if you respect your employees enough to provide them an environment they can be at their most productive in. The majority of Honeywell sites are disgusting sh1tholes with sub par resources, diabolical IT and HR, horrible food options, cr-p equipment, no stationary, ancient musty brown 80's decor full of fluorescents etc, etc. All the sites I have worked in give me a headache at the end of the day. In my job Honeywell is also regularly late with payments or offers cr@p payment terms so I can not even get the components I need when I get to work. So get off your high horse and see the reality.....or do you live in Charlotte towers (which still has sh1t IT and HR)!

Productivity, collaboration, accountability, team building, etc all improve by being in the office…consequential loss in employee effectiveness when remote. When the pendulum swings toward an employer advantage employment market, a distributed workforce initiative will most likely be dusted off and deployed.

Just start fa----g. I've found it makes me feel better, brings laughter, amd keeps people from ever sitting in my seat again. Yup, a good rip or two during the day also pushes away people who don't want their conference to hear it.

Just come back to the office permanently and the site will allocate a space for you that never need to share it with any other person.

Shared office space with no regular place for your things is extremely stupid idea that already was tested with bad results in various other companies, especially IT companies. Many of those companies abandoned such method once they learned hard way, that effectivity of employees went significantly down.

Every day 20-30 minutes lost just spent on finding usable spot, set-up docking station, connect your devices etc. And again same 20-30 min at the end of shift. Not to mention all the disgusting filth, bacterias, viruses, sweat etc. shared on keyboards, mouses, tables, chairs..

Our office is so vacant that there are offices with windows available for regular old engineers. Most of us are just staying in our same old cubes, because it doesn't really matter when you only come in 2-3 days a week.

Open office concept creates a sense of no belonging. You no longer have something which belongs to you, not even a chair or table. Everyday you sit at a desk station whichever is available, just like taking public transport. No wonder VOR, belonging is rated low, Cheap HON,

I’m one of the lucky ones who still has a cube and still have issues with phone shouters 3 cubes down. I turned down a job offer a few years back because of an open office environment. And yes I agree with other posters that there is zero collaboration except to chat about non work issues.

Mad Dog mentioned in his QA that there is no change to 3/2 hybrid schedule, of course we know what their word means.
Agree on how awful the open concept is. Of course no mgmt sits in it.

Agree. The open concept, hot desking, will be one of my top three reasons for leaving on my exit interview. I’m get home from work everyday with a headache.

The HON open office concept is a toilet bowl. Diseases spread like wildfire when your nearest neighbor is 2 or 3 feet away. When you have a roomful of loudmouth phone shouters on top of that, the end result is a miserable workday with zero collaboration and nothing but a desire to leave as quickly as possible.
