So, in the relatively short time of a few months Chris Licht, the CEO of CNN, was dumped for what amounted to a series of bad business decisions and poor treatment of staff including such things as:
- The fact he had his office in a fancy suite away from the main newsroom and the staff
- His growing and un-checked arrogance (as described in an article in The Atlantic)
- Silly and pointless restructuring of the news organizations
- Layoffs based on desparation
- and finally a disastrous "town hall" featuring the man who tried to overthrow our government spewing lies to an audience filled with his fawning admirers
The folks at CNN acted fast, as their brand - whether you like it or not - was clearly made worse by the actions of the CEO, and brought a lot of unwanted negative publicity.
Meanwhile at T, not even losing over $100 Billion in failed mergers, rampant arrogance, constant layoffs, total demoralization of staff, and endless reorgs and restructuring that accomplishes nothing, Stankey is safe and comfortable.
