Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

AI

ATT has 500 AI patents and growing. Development is happening largely in India.

Most employees don't understand how much AI has progressed within the company. We have been working on AI for over a decade.

AI is now being used to document notes from customer contacts in call centers. They will start testing AI on Sundays, taking calls. Coaching and development will largely be formulated by AI and delivered by management.

Smartchat is perfecting its AI currently.
Using 1000s of daily data inputs to build and interconnect multiple AI systems.

It also being used to prevent fraud using millions of individuals data.

The next launch will be in the network which will perform the work of hundreds of technicians.

The aim is reduce most craft by 30% by 2026 and management by 55% sooner.

Had an "opportunity" to allow AI the ticketing system dispatch a ticket to 22 Gpon customers out of service. We "humans" found the problem but we are unable to dispatch someone to fix the problem because the AI "tool". Fhuck them, they are just customers paying our salary. I got paid for full days work though. Life is good when you cease to care.

Twenty years from now they will still be threatening to implement and deploy AI. What a joke!

I work in a test center. Ai has definitely been around over 10 years... we used to call it Atas, now it's ROBO... and I'm here to TELL YOU, AI IS WRONG 75 PERCENT of the time ... it tries to close tickets not being able to understand what the trouble ticket was asking for that we have to pull back from auto closure ALL the time! It helps as far as satausing the customer wjen a HUMAN is actively working on the troubles, and it gives us a picture of what is currently being seen on a trouble but that's about it! Foe my craft job, they could NEVER go all AI, not at this time anyway because it almost always Mos diagnoses trouble.

Ok Satesh. You are correct. If AI has progressed within the company, consider me not impressed. Over a decade? AT&T might want to lure some real AI engineers from companies that are getting it right. Oh wait, this is AT&T and the talent pool in India is not that deep.

LMAO. Unless the AI suddenly grows legs that can climb ladders to pull cat 6 or arms that drill thru concrete , I think my craft job is safe.

It's just not possible that at&t can successfully implement AI. Has at&t ever successfully implemented anything? Perhaps in the pre-divestiture arena, but not since divestiture. It's been failure after failure after failure with the new at&t. It's enough to make you want to pu-e. Here we are today with the worst CEO in the history of the world, drowning in $135B of debt. AI will never be implemented successfully at at&t so long as Stankey is CEO.

I'll believe it when I see it. I called into a call center yesterday with the AI interface and speach. All peachy keen until I gave it my phone number. Then it kept going... I didn't catch that....say that again. No dice.
Can you imagine a customer trying to order a complex circuit using an AI based menu? Its not there yet.
