Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

July Layoffs

Top guy in our group said there will be layoffs in July. That means we should be getting notices in May, correct? Is there any one organization that will be targeted?

OP “top guy in our group said”

How about the details. What level do you consider the top guy? What group? Where / when was this announced”.

There will be minimal surplus in the non management ranks to avoid having to make any payouts. Tight wads. Instead, as attrition occurs, work will be redistributed to people who are left to fill resource gaps. They are getting rid of people the cheapest way they can. Get ready.

We'll see...heard this hype before and it was not as bad as everyone thought. I pity the people that are forced out involuntarily and also those that want to go, but are not allowed to in lieu of those that would like to remain employed. There ya go, ATT has no compassion whatsoever! If I was an employee with only 10 years or so, I would be looking for employment elsewhere. There are some great semi-conductor companies out there that might be able to utilize your services, just have to look long and deep! Best of luck to all those of the T family that will be impacted in the near future!

CNIO surplus in June off payroll on 7/1. Not voluntary. They already have the people identified who are being let go. There are people who want to go who have offered to go to spare someone else but instead, they are cutting people who are good performers and who want to stay. Even after it’s been said on numerous officer calls they would try to fill surplus slots with people who were ready to go. There’s very few left in the chain of command who can be trusted. And they wonder why the survey results suck. Watch your back.

Look for announcements mid June for off payroll July 1.

This statement sounds like bargained for personnel will be impacted this next go around! We thought there would be a huge layoff in March, but it was essentially small in numbers. Not sure if this next go around will be different or not!

This should come as no surprise to anyone. Stankey has been very candid on the need to reduce expenses by 6.5B, this ain't no joke. The biggest communication issue at at&t is that employees only hear what they want to hear. They never believe the message applies to them! Examples are RTO, everyone currently telecommuting thinks it only applies to others, not them. Another example is layoffs, everyone thinks it applies to everyone else , not them.

1q23 results were not good. Stankey and top leadership have to deliver on Fiber, Mobility and cash flow and they didn’t…didn’t generate enough cash flow to even cover reduced dividend…so what will they do? cut costs and headcount unfortunately… you can’t cut yourself to greatness… sad to see what is going on and how TMobile is out-executing T…

Stankey said no one is safe years ago! His position has changed since then because my organization is still hiring. We have hired at least 10 technicians over the last 4 years or so. So, that statement couldn't be more inaccurate!
