Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Advice on return to office

I work at a bank that will require workers to return to offices 3 days a week. Their goal is to force workers to quit so they don't have to pay severance or unemployment benefits.

Workers are geographically dispersed in states and cities throughout US. Myself I'm in the west coast and almost 100% of the people I work with are on the east coast. I have to be in a office to slack, zoom, and collaborate through Google docs, sheets, and slides.

I intend to reject early to late meetings, come in late and leave early, kick the can down the road for work that is not convenient for me, and take long lunches.

Any suggestions on how you've been successful at dealing with non-sense in office requirements? I'd ❤️ to share notes.

Super easy in Charlotte. No processing managers that live near by. The regional manager lives in Maryland so he can’t show up. So we have the whole place free and clear. Show up. Swipe in. Leave. Love it! Remember there is always a work around.

My job offer says jack all about that and neither does my job description. Got great reviews working from home for years before COVID. It's not whining to bring awareness to stupid corporate policies. Keep on cheering for this generations 8 is Great.

@ edk, You hired on for 5 days a week? Oh really?? Me too, what a coincidence! That’s what I did pre-pandemic, during lockdown and in the year+ since my LOB began RTO. Pre-pandemic, I’d average 4-5 hours over 40 in a given week. During lockdown, my work hours expanded to fill my commuting time, so it became 12-13 hours over 40. Since RTO though, it’s back close to 40 as my needless commute costs me time and money while negatively impacting my productivity, including my ability to manage my (not colocated) team.

TL;DR - you lot who equate being in the office with WORKING are freakin pathetic and downright offensive.

Would advise to always take a deuce before you leave. Reduces stink and toilet paper usage at home. Almost makes RTO worth it.

Tell we you don't work at Wells without telling me you work at Wells. Seriously. Slack? Zoom? Google docs? Ha

These are all great suggestions. Coffee, read the thelayoff, and take a dump then split early.

Sorry I can't help you @OP, I live too far to be forced to RTO and I work in a group that isn't a displacement target at the moment since previous displacements have demonstrated to management that we're at the limit for workload.

Let's be thankful today. There are so many things to complain about and work is necessary to live.

OP, I'm in same situation....even tho there's no one from my team to collaborate with face to face, in person, in the office..... I'm going to try to fly under the radar and do my best to comply... office time no more than an hour.
RTO s^cks. It's the latest buzz in all industries due to cost of office space. I haven't heard my mgr spew about it lately, not sure if that means it COULD be calming down, but maybe my mgr is preparing to "coach"me. a
gain, f*ck RTO --esp if you were wfh before the pandemic.

Find another job that is 100 percent remote and stop whining. You are going back to the office.

Just go in for 3 half days. All that is required is 1, so go in early, log in, get a coffee, read thelayoff, take a cr-p and go home.
