I joined the PMIC team in San Diego less than couple years ago as I though it would be a good fit for my background. Things started to change quickly after the initial honey moon period. Hard work and knowledge don't count and seem to pose a threat to the senior leads. Culture is cliquey and people within the gang can be hostile and brutal to outsiders. During the last review, my manager gave me low rating, and his justification was I don't fit well within the group. Well, I can't change my ethnicity and I am not willing to learn Chinese to be able to fit in.
Is that normal across the board or did I just end in a sh!tty team? I interned one summer at a different company during college and everybody was pleasant and helpful. Qualcomm is my first job after college, so I don't have many other experiences to compare to. I read a post here about someone's experience at QCA, Post ID: @OP+1m1IaXp3, and it resonated well with my experience. The job market is very tough right now but I am actively looking. Is it wise to apply to job postings internally to avoid the hassle of relocating, or should I quit Qualcomm altogether?
