Employee Protest - Switch your Wireless!

Everyone go to T-Mobile and switch their personal wireless accounts in protest. That would amount to easily hundreds of thousands of disconnects.

Reality is, even after a 50% discount, T-Mobile is a better deal.

I can’t agree more on our network capacity and performance.
It is deeply underfunded, sometimes I feel 2nd class customer with this unreliable network

Employee discount on underfunded network for capacity, spectrum, and performance, is nothing but a scam run by T upper management and some stupid employees believed them

I switched to VZ in 2020, then to T-mobile in 2022, my stupid 50% employee discount didn’t match the deals I got for VZ or T-Mobile
AT&T Employee discount is joke, it should be free for employees and its immediate family, any thing less than that is so stupid and doesn’t make sense, we keep looking for the best deal in the market, and T should understand the competition out there and take us for granted

"I am sure a big percentage of our employees are not using the employee discount anyway because in 2020 and 2021 the discounted deals with the free phones upgrade offered from all carriers including AT&T made it very difficult to stay on our employee discount"

Not sure why, because we've been getting those "free" phone deals with installments and monthly credits, with my EMO discount, for years.

"1GB of data per month? I guess if you basically don't do much with your smartphone you can get by on 1GB/month. "

I don't use much data at all since I use wifi at home and in most public places. When the monthly quota is exceeded, T-Mobile just throttle the speed with no extra charge.

So, despite the desire to do pay back to AT&T in any, civilized, way possible, of course it feels like moving our family plan of 7 lines somewhere else would be the right thing to do, but, there are emotions, and then there is logic. In my area, AT&T has the best coverage, so it's not that easy. Plus, we have installment plans on some of the lines, that receive monthly credits, so that's another reason to hold on to it, at least for the time being.

"What happened to employee loyalty? "

I think it left when employer loyalty walked out, escorted by two MBAs whining about employees being expensive.

Original OP here - love the dialogue.

I appreciate loyalty, but don’t you think the company could at least offer an employee discount for our own services that is better than we could get by walking into a T-mobile store? Sorry, but that’s fu---d up. The employee discount should be 90-100%.

Who are you referring to? The OP? You are the type of winner employee who is so loayal to the company and your boss that you will never be laid off or terminated?

I had a sprint voice plan back from 1999 via my former employer costing only $10 a month. Two years sgo T-Mobile gave me a free new 5G phone and converted my plan to include 1G data and still charge me only $10 a month. Can't get any better than that. I had an AT&T employ discount plan but the price kept going up, and the $10 auto pay discount was never honored so I eventually decided to cut it off.

" CFO who kept complaining about us paying with credit cards saved his $25 a year. With decisions like that from upper management no wonder this company is in trouble. I was also tired of all the incorrect billings of T. "

Right? Have to bundle to get discount; have to pay from bank account; then unbundle for discount; now multiple bills that never seem to be right.

I switched my personal phone with 4 lines to T-Mobile over 12 years ago. Back then, I cut my bill from $3800 a year to about $1500, T-mobile got $1500 in Revenue and T lost $3800 and that furry faced CFO who kept complaining about us paying with credit cards saved his $25 a year. With decisions like that from upper management no wonder this company is in trouble. I was also tired of all the incorrect billings of T. Only communication I ever got from T customer service was a "we want you back" email. T-Mobile checked on me several times my first month to make sure I was happy.

If I had stayed to the Sacramento I would have switched by now. T covering was awful where I lived. Had to go outside the company iPhone to work. Galaxy usually work, but go a few down lose service.

Most co-workers had VZ due to coverage issues.

I never switched but I understand why people make the change. We work here for a paycheck. We should produce the work necessary in any given day to fulfill our obligation. We aren’t required to be loyal to T just like T isn’t loyal to us. We are a number put in place to produce work.
We should all be able to spend our money in a way that best fits our needs.
The idea that we should only by T products is ridiculous.

any time started at 9pm on T, but Sprint anytime started at 7pm. With employee discount; the after dinner calls were costing about $10 a month more than package. I asked company rep about a better plan, no explanation. Just the comment "Company needs to get money somewhere".

I wonder if the employee benefits or C-suite benefits will be cut if T loses customers. Milk that cash cow until it is dead, then sell off the meat parts for a final bonus.

TMo’s standard rates are cheaper than the employee plan, not by a lot but it is cheaper. I work here so why would I help a competitor?

Exactly how is AT&T wireless “customizable?”

by

Post ID: @1hvy+1mWLR9p8

You all obviously have no clue how wireless works. TMobile is baseline service compared to AT&T wireless is customizable. Cheaper not better by any means. If you switch you will not only be acting like a fool but you’re going to regret it. It’s a downgrade

TMO pays for my Netflix and has far better coverage where I live. I never had an AT&T service. I had the directv for a while then they cut my discount so I canceled and switched to YoutubeTV. Can't complain.

T-mobile should offer an AT&T employee discount. That would be brilliant marketing. And they could advertise that their service is so good even AT&T employees prefer it 2:1

I switched all five of our lines over to T-Mobile last year and have had great service. The cost is less than the employee discount, free Netflix, free Apple TV+, and free AAA, and no additional fees especially no administrative fees. The service is MUCH FASTER than we had with AT&T, a great responsive website, and zero issues.

Sad sad sad
But the reality is the employees discount is not really attractive compared to the deals in the market when you shop around
I would imagine with Amazon in the game, more employees will switch for better deals anyway
