New Tech Work From Office Requirement

Just heard that our tech agile teams must now be in the office 3 days a week to be compliant or else. Any bets a 5 day minimum is next?

The coming commercial real estate meltdown is in the news this week.

I feel bad for the small investors, and I feel bad for the downtown businesses that are losing out.

But those are not reasons to go back to the 1900's, sit in traffic for hours, pollute the world (remember the clear skies over LA during the pandemic's early days?), and waste my time.

The world is changing. The world gave us no choice. The pendemic was a slow motion natural disaster, like any other, and it left its mark on the world.

FTR, I'd be fine with helping small businesses relocate, etc., but I'm not for bailing out commercial real estate investors.

Bailing out rich people for investing, which by definition means risk, has got to stop.

Wall Street doesn't need the money, we do.

You'd think C level execs would want numbers to base decisions on.

So where are the numbers showing "3" days a week improves anything?

The 3 days a week number got out and everyone just grabbed onto it but there's no there there.

Proving that C level execs are not the best decision makers, they just go with the consensus.

No leadership, no vision.

I also don't work with anyone in my city. We were told RTO is about collaboration not just socializing with people you don't work with, but I'm still required to be in the office, by myself.

Space Finder and Guardian are both not accurate for where I can access and even what HR told me where I can access is wrong. I'm told I have to come in to the office but no one can even tell me where I'm able to sit. This company is garbage.

I recently moved to a new team. Nobody I work with is in my city, let alone building. It is absolutely pointless for me to go into the office 3 days week.

I love how some people seem to think that whatever is listed in Teamworks or WorkDay for a physical location is gospel of where a person, especially those who were/are Remote, are expected to show up to work. News flash: for remote workers, the nearest Servicing MAC was/is listed in Teamworks and the nearest physical WF location to a person's residence is/was listed in WorkDay...even if it happens to be a small retail brick & mortar location. Luckily for me, WorkDay finally shows me as Remote.

There's plenty of room. Buildings I go to are mostly empty. They should sell all these buildings and go full WFH.

more opportunities for them to have parties and post pictures on Linkedin. Thats all tech does and then complains they don’t have capacity to do actual work

Why are you special ? Most of us have had to RTO 3 days for over a year now . Even people who worked from home long before Covid .

RTO 3x (or 5x week) is/will a nightmare. WF mgmt always thinks a$$ backwards.
Unassigned seating is now being "claimed"-- kinda like squatters claiming their sidewalk space. With bldg restacks and consolidatons, there's NO 'effing workspace!

Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out it will soon be 5 days a week. FRTO

OP talks to the mirror, “agile tech goes back three days a week”” Then posts “i heard somewhere tech agile is going back three days a week.”

Where are they going to put everyone? The added burden of making employees that were previously fully remote coupled with the nagging rumor of 5 days a week is just a disaster waiting to happen. Don’t get me started on office consolidation and How b strategy. It’s a logistical nightmare with few winners and a lot of losers. Hang in there everyone. This can’t last forever. Either we get laid off with packages, we quit due to the stress and stupidity of it all, or the grifters running the company into the ground in Hudson Yards will finally leave. This to shall pass.🤷🏻

And everyone else has been 3 days a week for over a year. Not going to get a lot of pity.

I'll believe it when I hear it through official sources.

Until then, 1 day a week.
