If Nexflix did a documentary on how AT&T fell so low after so many years of domination? Like start at the beginning…. Ma bell….great leadership and track how successful we were….and then lead all the way up to the failures and where we sit today. I’d say even include the HBO MAX stuff where they thought they would crush NETFLIX too and failed…also include up to the point we had to sell HBO MAX…… NETFLIX rocks at these sort of documentaries and they dig in deep…… just food for thought is all….. hmm

Great points - I cannot for the life of me figure out why anyone who started after they stopped offering the pension would stay or would consider moving unless they actually are ok with moving(and some maybe depending on their personal situation). Additionally and to your point, if you have a pension and are more than 2 years away from MR75, I would prepare to leave regardless of where you are located.
Brush up on skills if you have stagnated, evaluate your finances and save more if you can. It is harder to find a job in some sectors the older you get, but it really just takes a bit longer and is not impossible. I did it and was in my 50s and while I don't think it will be true of everyone since it will depend on the job market, your skills, ect, - I actually make more money and that aside it is just better overall. The grass isn't always greener, but I think if you are competent(not a slacker) you will find a better experience than T.
Going forward, nothing T does or that happens with T should catch you off guard.
Dont forget that AT&T was basically bankrupt when they are taken over by SBC.. Bad management is nothing new. Remember when Armstrong bought Comcast for some ungodly amount of money and then had to sell if a few years later because they had no idea what to do with it.
Once it lost its monopoly with the breakup into the Baby Bells, managements incompetency couldnt be hidden any longer. They sold off Bell Labs - one of the truly great gems of America.. How F-ing stupid could they be.

AGREED, it's all due to SBC mismanagement of this once great American icon gone bad! It all started going downhill when SBC took the lead! The damage is irreversible at this point!
Question is, how will the movie end? I really think people should really think about the future of this company and its chances for success. And then ask themselves if they should start over somewhere else now, or take their chances. You've got to understand that this company is AT&T in name only, truly this is SBC doing all this failing.
