Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Just me?

Anyone else working for the worst or most inexperienced manager of a long career? I read the emails and messages from this person HON is paying 6 figures a year and think what a complete waste of time.

HON Corp has turned into a bunch of GE rejects who posture and preen and demean their teams, while offering zero value. I seriously don’t think this manager could survive a culture based on meritocracy and contribution.

Or if you’re lucky, you could be like the UOP manager in Tulsa who got the job a year ago with six figure salary and NOW she is being trained by HR every week to do the job. No lie. Welcome to HON where we give you the job even though you have zero qualifications and then train you how to work with staff. Brilliance.

Am working under a manager just as incompetent as the next one. Likes the limelight but has no ability to find a solution. Only way of finding one is to refer/ direct to another person that he vaguely knows if the one directed to has a clue. Its very normal these days where all these so-called leaders spends more time in meetings discussing ‘big’ strategies when even immediate ones can’t be fixed. Maybe its a way to divert attention to Bob and Mike from seeing the underlying issues thats plaguing the organisation. My manager’s only core ability is to celebrate wins which he has no contribution whatsoever but claims all the credit, flow down goals from his upper level to you so that you may create your goals to reflect his, delegates everything and anything claiming that this is the path for progression and the only reason that he is still around because other companies that he’s applied for knows how incompetent he is probably during interviews. Only way to survive is to stick with Honeywell cause its the only company that keeps what the rest don’t want.
The longer I am here, I might end up just like my manager. My resumes been circulating outside and hoping that I can get out of here before I start having to cling on for the rest of my career with this forsaken company.

These people are just bonus driven.

They hire their friends for one reason. They all lie for them. When they claim they make their numbers. In order to get their bonus. They never achieved getting the numbers. They always have to rework the parts. They even have recalls.

Boeing and Lockheed. We’re at my plant Thursday and Friday. They want their parts. We’re supposed making 300 per today. Yet! 25 to 35% of the parts a good. Proving they lie and protect each other.

We currently have three accounts and aren’t very happy with us. They want their parts. We’ve been put on probation by these companies many of times. One account is threatening to leave us for good.

Even a group leaders lie for them. It must be a corporate thing. There’s no accountability throughout the whole organization.

Wrong @oiy+1mSyAkNY, ALL, 100%, WITHOUT EXCEPTION, ALL HONEYWELL MANAGERS ARE BAD. Proof ??, ALL OF THEM , again, ALL OF THEM, invoked that un-ethical "nine block" BS, with the "elbow", mandatory PIP's (independent of real performance) and ultimately a "Reduction" of the unfortunate employee. And don't even regurgitate the LIE that "it came from GE", BS AGAIN, HON had it's own twisted take on the nine block, and unlike GE (which applied double digit incentives, yes cut's, but was applied to management and employees, separately, HUGE difference ), HON applied ONLY to employees (how convenient), a popularity contest with "ranking" which had ZERO to do with Results and performance. "Yes men" floated like loose turds to the top, and those that got ALL the work done, were faced with "your turn in the pickle barrel". @1agd+1mSyAkNY said it best, go AA, do us a favor, you are obviously a manager or a troll, either way, work it out.

This thread became a whine-a-manager thread. There’s always something somewhere to complain about a manager. And there are valid reasons sometimes, just not always.

@cdo+1mSyAkNY This totally happened to me! I thought I was a good judge of character but embarrassingly I was hoodwinked for nearly 2 years. Although I had a gut feel something was off his charade was impressive...... however myself and my colleagues did eventually put 2 + 2 together and realized he was grifting hard.
So many little tricks and lots of cunning but he forgot what lies he told to who and when the hard times came this nasty little cnut showed his true colors.
The self preservation was impressive, he managed to elevate himself whilst the team shrank to less than half the size. I hope karma is coming for him, there is not much of his team left and he trampled over a lot of key people.

Hey @lyu+1mSyAkNY, you are not the minority, you are just being FOOLED ! Your manager type was described above, specifically:
The ”I have a good manager” POS. These s-c-u-m do EVERYTHING the first two groups do, but have their GRIFTING down to an art. They never have sights above being a manager, first or second level. They have seen many directors, VP’s, P’s, and have navigated thru all of them, HOW? They are the Gest@ph0 chameleons, they change color with the ilk above them. It is ALL ABOUT THEM. They will stab you in the back, slow bleed you, and then cut you up in pieces….and you will regurgitate, “But, I had a good manager”, they are THAT GOOD. These POS types act cheery, show you “Funny video clips” during group grope, and always have the Sargent Shultz excuse “I am only following order from above”.
Maybe open your eyes a little, as as post said, this type of manger will cut you up in little pieces, and by then, too late for ya! Hope you survive your "good manager", LMFAO.

In a group I worked alongside with they had no qualified applicants for a manager position even after 3 months of advertising, finally they got a handful ranging from 'not great' to bad. They recuited the least cr@p one that didn't even bother showing up to work and dissapeared, the next one the exact same thing! Eventually they filled the position with just the most hopeless guy I have ever met. I felt bad for his team, last I heard he drove it into the ground and they disbanded the group. Honeywell's reputation is so bad today it is a last resort for most people and consequently the quality of hires just keeps plummeting to new lows. I got kicked out last summer and can tell you after Honeywell it will shock you how much better your life is!

No, not just you. Many see the TRUTH, and half still are lemmings. Not being argumentative, but it ain’t only the “GE Rejects”, those have passed thru the goose ar-e of honeyhe11 in the last 30 plus years. I have seen many “manager” types in this place, here is my groupings of the types, WORST to less Worst. Before some of you dip $hits have a meltdown, it is a general list, if your manager type not included, it is an exception.
The absolute WORST manager type, is the “Former” honeywe11 manager. These jerks “were” former first or second level managers, could never quit get enough ji-z down to be a Director, but boy did they try. They are the CAMP COMMANDERS, they followed the directives from berlin to the letter, PIPed, block 9, elbowed, fired, riffed, did whatever the brass flowed down. Now, these ilk, are “former managers”, they are DER’s, Chief’s, Fellows, Special project’s. Make no doubt, they the absolute WORST, even tho they are no longer managers. They are the barnacles on the sinking ship.
The Rejects” As OP said, GE Rejects of 30 years ago came in, upper to SL in honeyhe11. They were TQM, “blackbelts”. Also, don’t forget the Lycombing Rejects, they were most valued, they stuck together like bat dung. Then the PW rejects, could not even add one plus one together. The honeyhe11 RED ftards, these multiple clowns were do nothing Honeywell RED managers in name only, many did not even have ANY degree, just nepotism and vacuum pullers.
The ”I have a good manager” POS. These s-c-u-m do EVERYTHING the first two groups do, but have their GRIFTING down to an art. They never have sights above being a manager, first or second level. They have seen many directors, VP’s, P’s, and have navigated thru all of them, HOW? They are the Ge----o chameleons, they change color with the ilk above them.
The FAD manager. These m0r0ns were only promoted to a manager because of the current, and constantly changing “Fad” of what someone in SL thinks a manager “should” look like. Whether it be the “ You have a….”vagg”, dot, dark skin, dot, g-y, l-z, nepotism….. or have no experience (young age), no aero experience but worked as a autozone executive(older age), they all come in, break $hit, then leave and are never heard from again, until you see them as a Walmart greeter.

My current VP is the absolute worst. I suspect he's a diversity hire since his entire management style is basically "get everything I want done so I can get promoted" and "I'm the VP, so I'm better than you" but he does it in a low key style so as not to upset too many people. I saw right through his schtick and now he gives me the stink eye. LOL. Such a clown.

My new manager has embraced the culture of punch down fully and gleefully. He is fresh out of college and thinks he’s the CEO. His total time in the workforce is less than a decade- not just here, but ANY job- He has demonstrated that he can’t manage a paper bag, but hey- they (they being the narcissists at the very top) love him because he is willing to punch down. I fully expect to be RIFed by the end of the year.

I had a great manager that protected our group then they riffed him. They brought in a new one and they quit after 2 months as they knew the BS and was not going to whip on us grunts. Now we have a manager that does NOT know the job and it is more worried about other employees feelings that the customers. They try asking questions and if I can get away with it, I shrug and reply "I don't know". The best part of all is when I get the emails that this or that is getting fixed. I laugh because they do not know they are pi$$ing in the wind, spinning their wheels hoping to make something better that through ignorance and incompetence has been destroyed. The only thing that Intelligrated still sells is proprietary items and that will not last forever as the customers have went elsewhere for everything else. You may ask what I am doing still here, waiting on my RIF.............................

My last manager literally had no idea what he was doing, he was so incredibly out of his depth it was embarrassing and yet he kept his job whilst the majority got Riffed. That is Honeywell for you, complete insanity.

My managers have been generally fine with one buzz word mckinsey worshiping exeption, thankfully now retired.
Honeywell has rendered managers feckless. Today they exist only so that employees have someone to complain too.. i am sure some mgrs of hourly workers are required.
Other than that ... all they can do is hire people and they have no control over the resumes they see or the offer they can make... feckless.

I may be the minority, but my department is lead by a manager that actually gives a s--t about us and and wants us to succeed. He's not a Honeywell shill or GE reject. He was around since before Honeywell acquired our company. He's the main reason why our department has remained mostly intact. He sees a lot of the same BS and does everything in his power to shield us from the majority of bad leadership and turbulence.
