Excerpt from Relocation Package

Welcome to the AT&T Relocation Package (ARP) Job Aid!

You are being offered a relocation package because your extensive skill set and loyalty to the company can be better utilized in the following city:

Dallas, TX

The purpose of the ARP is to make your move as seamless and trouble-free as possible. We know you have a busy personal life, and the ARP is here to take care of all of the details so that you don't have to. The process of your relocation can be summed up in the following steps:

(1) You will use the AT&T Travel Portal to book a flight to your destination city. This will be an orientation trip so that you can become familiar with your new home. Feel free to book business/first class if it helps reduce stress. Plan to stay at least four days, and book any hotel near the AT&T office in the destination city. If the hotel shows up as outside of policy due to price, enter the code RELO into the "discount code" box on the portal to override it.

(2) A professional driver will be assigned to you and will meet you at the airport. Look for the placard with your name on it. If you already know in which neighborhoods you are interested, the driver will take you there. If not, the driver will offer at least five (5) suitable neighborhoods that should meet with your liking. Don't worry about lunch or dinner; these will be taken care of.

(3) Once you find a neighborhood to your liking, you will submit the approximate location in the relocation portal. Relocation experts with AT&T partner Sotheby's will contact you within one hour to begin showing you available homes, or to meet with homebuilders to design a custom home.

(4) Once you have selected a home, AT&T will secure it with a down payment; there is no need for you to advance any money or arrange financing. They will also contact you to arrange a move-in date. You may return home until that date.

(5) Our moving partners will contact you one week prior to the move-in date to arrange movement of your vehicles, furniture, personal effects, boats, and so on. We use "white glove" movers who use specially-designed trucks with floating air suspension to ensure the safest move. You do not need to pack anything; the team of movers will take care of it, packing your goods in high quality linen-cardboard boxes and using thick, high-cushion anti-scuff mats for large pieces.

(6) A relocation expert will finalize an itinerary to move you and your family out of your house just before the movers arrive. You will not be disturbed by movers, ensuring a stress-free transition. You will fly to the nearest airport to your destination city and a uniformed driver will again meet you there. You will stay for approximately 3-4 days in an ultra-luxury, fully-equipped and -furnished apartment of equal or greater size than your original home, while the movers are bringing your personal effects.

(7) The relocation expert will stage your original home and perform the sale. You do not need to be involved or present. The sale price of your home, plus an additional 60% to account for cost of living changes and housing market differential will be applied to your new home. If this results in a surplus, you will receive the difference within two paycheck cycles.

(8) Once your effects arrive, you will be taken by private care to your new home. Welcome!

(9) One week after your move-in date, you will be contacted by a professional housekeeping company to arrange housekeeping, meal preparation, and other tasks for the period of one (1) year, included in the relocation package.

Thank you for your loyal service to the company, and please let us know if there is anything we can do to make the process easier and stress-free.

One of the best post's on this board ever!!! Masterful storytelling here. Just masterful. This certainly sounds like some of the employees I've known over the years. "Professional Liar" or "Master Bullsh***er "should be one of those in-demand skills in Career Intelligence. I would certainly tag myself at an "Expert" level in the CI portal if given the chance. I've learned from the very best here at AT&T.

A good joke, I almost believe it but you’ve oversell it with “Don't worry about lunch or dinner”.

" There will be some short-term experience gaps, but no deficiencies that can’t be overcome quickly through turnover or documentation created by previous employees’."

LOL - things are poorly documented if documented at all. Don't count on employees impacted to ki-l themselves writing cook books for their successors to follow. They certainly will have no motivation. The company has gotten a lot of mileage on people staying for a long time and there are people who have telco/wireless (engineering, network, ect) knowledge that can't be easily replaced by someone off the street. I know this because since I have left 18 months ago, consulting/contracting firms reach out to me several times a month to see if I'm interested in coming back.

Likely fake, but I can see that for L5+. L3&4 will get some kind of relo package. L2 will get a pink slip or told to move on their own dime, L1 will get let go. Facts.

Honestly, very few positions merit relocation assistance. Not many employees have specialized technical skills needed that can’t be easily replaced in the commercial marketplace, especially in Dallas, Atlanta or Mumbai, There will be some short-term experience gaps, but no deficiencies that can’t be overcome quickly through turnover or documentation created by previous employees’.

Well thought out, nicely worded package, but it's a joke that should be a reality to most T employees. Too bad it's not the real deal because that would make ATT look like the premier company to be working for rather than a 2nd rate wanna be struggling to survive!

"Is this for real??"

Yea, bub, Sotheby's just hired 4,000 new white glove agents to handle L1 and L2 managers moving to Dallas.
