Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

stopping a dividend payment gets T survival

Would free up $8 billion a year for survival and enable proper investment in its current race to last place. Stock sla-ghtered already anyway. Tmob pays no dividend, and it's share price has totally kicked t's for years. No widows and orphans believe t stock is safe anymore regardless. It's dead money unless t can actually dig out of its huge debt hole and grow. Stopping dividend is only path there it appears. You don't cut headcount to grow. T ONLY HAS 1 MORE PILE OF CHIPS LEFT TO BET. Then the casino wants paid in full, and they don't care how they get it. They'll take it in many pieces if needed.

Keep bailing and wailing. Stankey has a plan, and it doesn't involve any subordinates. Plan accordingly.

Maybe they could sell the copper to homeless crackheads at a discount. It would be the inclusive thing to do.

Why would anyone ever consider buying T stock right now without a dividend?

Sure, removing the dividend saves money, but investors will bail and the stock price might very well dip below $7. I mean, it's not like the company is performing well, is growing, or is competently managed. So why buy stock in a failing company?

The only reason anyone still has T in their portfolio is for the dividend.

TMUS has topped out. No growth story there, they will continue to drop the axe every few months for years. They will come under a lot of pressure to start paying dividends.

Ending dividend would trigger a mass sell off. Most people only own the stock for the dividend.

Regarding dead copper anchor around our neck, you're saying t has no real growth potential? Whoa, does stinky know that? He says we're growing our way to success. Fiber and mobility are the drivers. I guess you didn't get that memo. If t is dead money and good only for a dividend, few will buy it when it's quite risky and they can get an insured cd at similar yield. Oh yeah, that fact is why t at 30 year low now. See the conundrum in play? It goes way beyond dead copper.

A company has growth or a dividend. If there is neither, no one is going to want to own it.

AT&T (and Verizon) are saddled with no-growth copper. So, they need a dividend.

Sad but probably true. Pathetic corner to be backed into.
