All of the problems at WF seem to originate in California. Perhaps THAT is where the problem that can be resolved. No more CA!

It is just so funny to read these comments. WF is either:

1. The biggest dirtbag company that would do anything for a buck.

or

2. A racist company that is declining the opportunity to make money.

How about, the LA Times article is just flat out false. Unfortunately, the data around diversity dimensions is closely held and not shared broadly. Wish it was so that people could see the truth. The LA Times suffers from wrong data AND the inability to understand how to apply appropriate statistical rigor.

They don't even have a race box. WF doesn't care about race in the least either, they just want to make a risk adj spread. Would be nice if LA Times had some actual writers with business knowledge and more intellect, its always write ups by socialist lib art majors with have caused the 600% spike in calls of racism in the last couple years. Why no one trusts the media any longer.

The "biased data" could be zip codes that they say are predominantly black. But if the neighborhood is rough by facts, why would someone want to invest in that area? The lender needs to protect their interests as well.

What I always find hilarious is that insurance and actuaries do the exact same thing but nobody calls out the insurance industry. Why is that?

I don't think allegedly discriminated against groups actually want equality. You know what equality really means?

1. No one is concerned in the least about legal ramifications of firing you.

2. No one ever has a quota to hire you. No recruiters are traveling around the country to snag you right out of college because of your skin color.

3. No court/jury will ever find in your favor if you allege discrimination, even if it's blatant.

4. There are no special mentoring programs or scholarships or anything else based on your skin color.

5. You have no excuses. If you don't make it, it's your own fault.

6. No one ever cares if the police ki-l you without justification. Seriously, go ahead and name one white guy that police officers negligently ki-led. It happens more to white men than any other group, and yet we don't know a single name, because people have been trained that they don't matter.

7. Media, schools, and other institutions constantly tell you that you are the root of all evil and people with other skin colors are the virtuous victim of your treachery even if you did nothing wrong.

8. You are expected to "shup up and listen", and like it, as if your freedom of speech is less equal than others.

9. No one will ever lower standards or eliminate testing for you.

10. Generally, to advance you must compete and accomplish it on merit. There's exceptions, but by and large that's true. No one is going to create a fake LOB with non-work to do so you can be the executive running it to improve the CEOs diversity numbers.

The list goes on, but you get the point. I wish there really was equality, then we could get rid of all the racist BS, but a lot of people are heavily invested in keeping it going. They get rich off it, and they aren't willing to just give that up, so here we are, with institutionalized racism the standard and the alleged leaders or the alleged victims do not want it any different.

This company does enough d-mb stuff already, focus on that instead of inventing controversies.

We could just assign numbers or something else and remove all identifiable information. Then we would know. The application would be like just using our employee ID.

while there may not be a race box in the application it doesn't take but a few bits of information to ascertain ones race, and if the models being built were built with biased data, intentional or not, it could lead to negative consumer impact.

We live in a society looking to find ways to push a narrative or discover supposed atrocities no matter the context. The media needs to do better, needs to be more accountable.

That's was my first thought too. Race isn't a question, so I guess this latest round of "boo hoo, I'm black" is based on an alleged massive conspiracy theory 🙄

Life is hard for everyone. It's not because you're black.

Guilty by the media. There is no way an underwriter even knows what the person's race is. Do you notice any other races screaming racism and asking for handouts?

Based on many stories I see about blacks in the news, I doubt we are getting the full story here. The media is complicit with pushing this narrative as well.
