Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Jason Press is not moving to Dallas

At the end of his CTX townhall he was asked, are you moving to Dallas?

He said he is working from Dallas. He did not answer whether he is moving to Dallas. Of-course he can afford to do that, probably makes close to $1M per year or more so no harm in flying to Dallas on Monday, Flying back on Thursday and renting a place. Rest of us are thinking of driving our own cars and sharing AirBNB. These people have no shame. None. Stankey should be fired

There will be a few L4s and maybe a few below that(especially if they are within a couple of years of retirement) that may do something similar (flying/driving in Sunday night/Monday and leaving Thursday). There were some L4s I knew that did that very thing pre-covid. I knew a few that shared apartments. In the end, they spent more time in their originating location than they did in Dallas. It was more for show.

Most cannot afford to do that. Regardless of how it is done, (fly, drive, AirBnb apt), it's not only costly but it is a time/energy drain. But, if it buys time to find something else, or get to a certain date or dollar figure for retirement, I get it.

Someone credible told me a while back that SVPs and above have negotiated contracts, so if this one is virtual, it is probably part of the contract. I wouldn't be surprised if whatever they (the SVP) do in terms of flying and lodging and working a few days a week or a few days a month is covered by the company and expensed. They've likely already been doing this and it will be BAU for them and not impactful in any way like it is for the rest of us. One of many examples of the fact that most if not all at that level do not extol the virtue "Leading By Example". Agree - The Rich get richer. The Rest get fired.

if only there was some sort of web phone directory employees could use to find out this sort of information.

EVERYONE else is supposed to be in the office 3-5 days

Good luck with that.

The rule is only 10% will be designated TW and you need a valid medical excuse or approved job accommodation, everyone else, EVERYONE else is supposed to be in the office 3-5 days.

To add to the previous post, since it looks like it may upset some people, I don't think people in these leadership positions should be designated as virtual. They want this thing, they're 100% on board, then they should be in the office every work day of the week. Lead by example, you know? I'm just saying this might be a loophole they will use for themselves.

One other thing... He said he will there when he's needed. I suspect it doesn't mean 3-5 days per week. To be fair, if he's designated as virtual, and only expected to be there a few days per month, he can do that, sure. I can't.

Move on! Why stay at a company if this would be such a hardship?
