With all my team's attrition, my mgr is below 7 direct reports (not sure if that's still the magic number). I thought anyone w/mgr title had to have a minimum DR headcount or else they would lose the mgr title. If not let go as part of attrition, will mgr be stripped of mgr title?

Middle managers are a waste. We can't sneeze without our middle manager reaching out to her manager to see if that's ok. By the time the answer trickles back down, we're 9 sneezes and 4 coughs in.
More likely that you will be laid off and your directs will be absorbed and re-orged by your manager (their current 2-up).
They should be but no. My manager has been supervising 4 people and does nothing. Just piles on more stork since she can’t do it. Waste of money. We keep her buried in her reports and laid off all the workers.
