Just swipe your badge and leave. You don't need to waste 30 minutes at the office. If asked about your login tell them 1. that you didn't need to login that day or 2. The email from Stankey didn't say you had to stay LOL

Can they track where you are if on HVD? It used to be they had no tracking of where you were just that you logged on

Problem is there is not enough desk space for everyone to work 3-5 in office in at least one hub. Were told we will have to reserve desk space, and it's only available for 4 hr blocks, so if you don't reserve the whole day or at all, what happens when you show up and there's no desk space?

Just tailgate behind someone else and never swipe your badge. Then use the VPN all day while you are at the office. Force them to physically come and see if you are actually at the office and not check it remotely. As you recall, nobody at T is considered competent enough to work remotely, so they need to come in the office every day and make sure you are there.

that is hilarious OP. truth is this will blow over just like every other grand idea that the lower level management doesn't enforce. just remember that the data does not go away and no manager is going to put their head on the chopping block to save you if they actually follow through on disciplining.

For most of us, getting laid off is the best you can hope for. Most others not within 15 mins of a hub will get fired for cause for non compliance. Oh well, severance is jack squat after taxes anyway. Next company, please.

I was at a major hub office today. 1/2 the equipment didn’t work and the internet moved at dial-up speed. I spent all day just trying to load a few systems and pages that load in seconds at home. Would hit the system, then sit and wait 5-10min for it to load or finally time out only to try again. Some stuff never got to load. Asked others around me if this is normal and they said yeah. Lord help us.

OP, yes do this daily. You'll free up a job when you're fired in 1 week.

" They’re 100% going to track time logged into the corporate network and vpn usage. Unless you want to get fired for a COBC violation I’d do my 8 hours 3 days a week and go from there."

Why is this being downvoted? It is 100% accurate. Those reports have been around for more than a decade, I have seen them.

The reports show where you log in from and for how long. Badge swipes have time stamps associated with them. This is not hyperbole.

Yes, yes you are. In fact, you can fly in (on your own dime) to your assigned Hub location, swipe your badge, and turn around and leave. We are okay with that.

When companies get as big as government then they adopt the same methods of keeping tabs on people. Small companies don't waste their time on this and focus on the profitability.

In the GRE sharepoints there are actually lists that show for every employee which methods are used, as well as current (past 90 day) statistics...

Other ways:
VPN access can be tracked, as noted below
DHCP lease time from your device to prove you've been in the office
software updates can report where your laptop was coming from
some facilities have badge reads going in, and going out of the office.
security cameras
company phone? maybe they can pull in GPS

If you have to think this far, then makes me wonder if you want to work for an establishment like that?

If you are reporting to Mid Town Atlanta, you can swipe and come up to the second floor where management is sitting with CWA, but good luck finding a open cube. Not sure how this is going to work, say if 500 people who are converted from TW to FOW. Where will everyone sit? Maybe they will buy chairs and you can have two chairs per cube but even that is not enough.
