Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Can we please cut to the chase?

Suppose we forget about the new RTO policy for a minute.
Bottom line is that Stankey has committed to an expense reduction of $6.5B to the BOD. Stankey has stated that he would like to reduce headcount to around 85K. That's a reduction of around 65K employees. This new RTO policy is his roadmap to making this happen. Stankey has hinted at this with his infamous "Too many mouths to feed" and "Headcount rationalization" quotes.
This isn't personal, while it's true Stankey doesn't care for at&t rank and file , his main focus is cutting expenses however he can.
This new policy has teeth, many lives will be ruined, but it has to be done. It's the only way at&t has a chance of surviving.

It's always fun to gamble with other people's money! Stankey and Stephenson did just that.
To make matters worse, they doubled down on the failed acquisitions of T-Mobile with the failed DTV acquisition. Then on top of that they tripled down with the failed acquisitions of Warner. Anyone notice a trend here?

I feel bad for all the landline lifers who chose the pension annuity. As if T isn't going bankrupt in the next 5-8 years.

Too bad they did not make any savings when stupid business decisions were made causing T to drain in debt. And those responsible were rewarded bonuses. Now they throw employees to the dupmster. I believe in Karma. Hope they will pay the price for ruining many lives.

Stankey and his butthoole buddy Randall are the reason for all of this chaos in the first place. This RTO policy has nothing to do with "how" or "where" we work. He's an id--t (and an arrogant one at that), so it's not hard to see thru the smoke screen at all. This has everything to do with forced headcount reduction and real estate offloading. They levered the company into billions of dollars of debt over the course of only a few short years and we're all paying the price now. It's that simple.

It’s difficult to move to a hub city only to know one could be surplused a year or two later.
Everyone has to make the best decision for their family and situation. What I would like to see is a roadmap of the next couple of years so that we can make a better informed decision.

TMobile, DirecTV, Warner…. A few examples of Stinky’s failed policies that put us where we are today. Can anyone say BONUS!

He’s committed to ruining everyone’s lives, except for his own. I don’t see him offering to cut his insanely high salary to help with these cost cutting efforts.

And none of these changes are new. This has been known for a long time. Many have just been in denial.

Get rid of unneeded workers. Communication company doesn't need that many workers.

Imagine how much money we could save if we got rid of Stank?

Look for another opportunity quick unless you have retirement income and savings.
