Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Corey

Honestly feel bad for the guy. Though he speaks with the confidence of someone that has no worries about his OWN particular future.

when stankey or mcelfresh push down their agenda, it would be difficult for those below to contradict or express their real opinion. it would just put a big target on their position

Don't ever forget: these guys get where they are because they know how to speak confidently and with authority on anything they are told to sell to the "little people" like you and I. This however is not as simple as they try to make. Their goal is to sell it so well that resistance seems like a fool's errand. You will find that they have misjudged the difficulty of what they make sound so straightforward. I remember when buying Time Warner was sold to the street and employees with comparable assurance. Don't fall for the song and dance. Resist. You are not alone and they have misjudged the problem. Coalescing teams geographically is a good goal but to work it must be done slowly by attrition. It got that way slowly, you can't fix it in a year.

Remember 5 years ago we have all been down this road. It didn’t work then, will not work now.

Wow… so he actually said the priority is the role not the person? Ouch.

That’s harsh. I get it. But it’s so inhumane. Unlike the smoke that usually blows. I guess leadership stopped pulling punches.

Corey spent the hour blaming the victim for what they wore!

Corey is a sharp guy, I like his frankness. I did have my doubts about him given his previous role, but I think he’s straightforward and as honest as he can be. I don’t agree with this call honestly. Ross is a good dude also if you’ve ever met him or worked with him, he’s a good leader. Not saying that to lick a boot, but honestly I think NEO has some of the best bosses in the company, not all of them, but most of them are pretty good. Much better than other groups. It’s a tu-d sandwich we’ve been dealt. Can’t say I agree with the decisions, but I think their hands were tied and they have to toe the line.

What is Ross’ position?

Ross has never, ever looked healthy. I don't know what he's got but I don't want it.

He told my location we were a small circle so we would not last. I was a surplus victim and JOGged to another location. That offfice is still there, but I bet not for long. It's not one of the big 9.

Ross looks sick, he coughs and keeps looking down instead of at the audience.

At least he is addressing the questions... not hearing communication from other leaders. I give him credit for being direct with answers and not saying what we "want" to hear but what the end result will be.

"The priority is the role, not the person"

Summarized perfectly. And when you make decisions like that, you acknowledge that having the best people in place is not at all important.

Ultimately, this will have a huge impact.

But clearly no one cares.
