Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

No info til 30 days

Word I'm hearing is our SVP isn't making any decisions for 30 days. Typical for these things, big announcement with no detailed plan prepared. Anxiety, speculation, etc for all of us for weeks. Ultimately stifling progress in the mean time.

Where are the lawyers and where is the media? Forcing people to choose between uprooting their lives and their families just to keep their job seems to disproportionately affect older workers and women. And Stankey saying some people can't do this "at this stage in their life" seems to be saying the quiet part out loud. These are people's lives--trying to find a job that is comparable to one you have invested decades in is close to impossible.

Haha, "within...". We all know nothing gets done ahead of time.

It’s WITHIN 3 days…… not IN 39 days.

Oh yeah. There’s gonna be great productivity for those 30 days.

The EVPs know the plan. Don’t let them fool you.

Stankey is actually hoping very few will relocate to Atlanta or Dallas.
This is strictly an exercise to dump a large portion of managers at no cost to at&t. This is a huge part of his commitment to the BOD to provide savings of $6.5B by EOY 2023.

Yes now we know what Stankey has been doing for the last six months.
Unfortunately, this new RTO policy is incomplete, just like every new policy that was ever rolled out with this company.
All of Stankey's EVP's claim to have no information beyond what was released to everyone in the email.
How is that even possible? It sounds like Stankey was operating and developing his policy in a vacuum.
It's obvious from all the unanswered questions that this policy leaves alot to be desired.
Stankey must have been so excited to roll out his new policy that he forgot to vet the policy with his EVP's!
That would have been the proper way to roll the policy out. His EVP Team could have asked questions and then given recommendations on improvements to the policy. Again, Stankey at his finest!

If you even won a judgement against at&t, by the time the attorneys took their cut, you might have enough to buy a cup of coffee at McDonalds.

Everyone was wondering why JS has been so quiet. Now you know. :(

Good. Enough time for some greedy high end lawyers to start prep on their class action lawsuits on this. This is not how you fire many thousands of people to avoid severance pay. Execs have forgotten that media hates att in general, as do many potential judges and jurors, who would love to ram it up ma bell where it hurts.

VPs are lemmings. They might say they'll stand up but they won't.

Legg will simply say "decision has been made, move on" like he always does. He's also gutless.

My leadership has yet to say a thing.

Guessing many of us got the same type of email from our VP's in the hours following the big announcement yesterday.... "...as of right now, we do not have all of the finer details..." etc. etc.

"Stay focused" etc. Yadda Yadda.

The one thing (maybe the only thing) this leadership excels at, is making sure that no one can stay focused.

"Our VP scheduled a call for today to answer our questions and just canceled. Said she had no answers and didn’t want to waste our time. This company doesn’t give a sh-t about any of its employees . This is the most screwed up thing I have seen them to their staff in 20 years with them."

Same in our org... we didn't have a call scheduled, but our director told us today that our VP has no new info or answers about how people will be impacted, and furthermore, she had no idea when we might find out.

VP's will never follow Stankey's directives when they know the directives are garbage.

VPs need to follow the directive. The reason Stankey created a blanket policy was to remove all the separate WFH policies and guidelines different towers have been following on their own the last several years.

"Be in Dallas by July 10th, but we're not going to tell you if you're affected for 30 days." Sounds awesome.

Could also be Jeffy McElfresh, although he is still in Stankey's dog house. This would help to move Jeffy to the number two position at at&t, ahead of Jeremy.

Corporate metrics reports are already starting to be run for in office presence,, so don’t wait too long to act.

This sounds like Jeremy Legg, he may choose to defy Stankey on this new policy. Jeremy will do this to show he has his own value system, in the end he will lose, but Stankey will respect him.
