Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Let's have a good laugh.

My fellow Honeywell employees. Minneapolis, Minnesota doesn't think they can relocate there division.

Supposedly! Due to the longitude and latitude are gyros can only be built here. You can build these gyros anywhere. It's based on line of sight. You don't even need the North Star.

You just need a fixed object. Now on the South Pole and North Pole would be a little more difficult. This is what the engineer told me.

You have never seen a cult. Until you come to Minnesota, we got a funny water up here. I think it's like 100% proof.

Glendale doesn’t have room. Where do they plan to move it?

Longitude and latitude don’t matter. All you have to do is adjust for earth rate or switch to polar mounts.

As long as you know where true North is you can adjust.

It rather depends on the government work. Mexicali is already some repairs on government repairs. The administration of the contracts are still through Torrance.

Obviously theses are not restricted parts. And there is one other out. There is small loophole for even ITAR parts. A small numbers of "allies" could do the work. But most, if not all, are not low cost regions so it wouldn't make sense to move them.

I do think they will transition Minneapolis to other US sites. I mean c'mon now, after the modernization at Clearwater what better place to transition to? (Sarcasm if you didn't pick that up)

Total BS. They build gyros in GLENDALE just fine. Government contract work HAS to stay inside the USA.

Many years ago, the rationale and term used to describe places that could not be touched was "monument". If the capital $ sunk into the facility was extremely large, or the equipment was near impossible to move, or the product was government sensitive (either through actual contractual agreement or simply pressure applied by those with the purse strings)- then that location was deemed a monument and thus untouchable, or at least too much trouble.

I always herd that your location was a monument. I suppose even monuments can crumble though...
