The Rich Boyz Club needs to justify their existence and their ridiculous salaries. They don’t like being “less visible” when they WFH because much of their career has been built on expensive suits, glad-handing, showboating and $ucking up.
WFH reveals their weaknesses (or strengths in the case of excellent managers). In our LOB - it certainly revealed their lack of concrete skills, their lack of contribution towards the work getting done, their weakness in technology, how little they know about the business they manage when their under-recognized #2’s aren’t immediately accessible, their fumbling when teleconferencing , and specifically their lack of measurable output. Our LOB has since eliminated several of our Senior Directors without replacing them and everyone is asking “What, exactly, did they do all day?”
*Note -I’m all in for the experienced managers with institutional knowledge who can roll up their sleeves, solve problems, and assemble and support productive engaged teams. I’m not for the overpaid Yes-Men who lack substance, experience and a backbone.
