Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Layoffs next week

Weren't there rumors about major layoffs before the end of the month? Has there been more news on that or is that not happening?
And yes, I know there are always layoffs at AT&T, but I'm asking specifically about a major round, not the usual surgical cuts that are happening every day.

I fear that I am like most, have hardly any work. I've wondered how I've been spared from layoff thus far, it's a real mystery. AT&T could easily layoff 40% of the workforce and not miss a lick. I've got seven years in would like to get fourty, just not sure that will happen. I sure hope you are staying busy performing meaningful work.

Yeah, they've begun asking and having headcount conversations privately at the AVP level and above. Each AVP has been asked to cut headcount significantly. Rumored at 10-15% for now, with an option to go to 20% later.
