Do you think rto will be 5 days a week later on in the year?

"This may be a foolish question but what's the point of VDI if we are supposed to RTO 5 days a week? "

It's still a cost savings to the bank. Also, the bank will likely never return to 5/days a week, because it's been exiting leases left and right. Finally, VDI allows employees to both work in the office and also work from home (at no additional cost) when it suits the company.

There had always been 3 big times for org changes/announcements like this. Right after memorial day(June), after Labor Day (sept) & Jan 1.

"My manager said it will be 5 days starting in June. She's not sure why Chucky and his cronies decided on that month."

It's because of Pride month. Some people in my department are claiming this, like RTO is tied in with the company's zeal for celebrating Pride. The thing is, I'm sure that many of our colleagues in the LGBTQ community also favor working at home. So this RTO mandate, as presented in this way, is really weird to say the least.

If it’s 5 days a week make sure you only do work in the office. Boss wants you to fix something in an emergency after hours? Gee, I’m at home. I need to wait for my wife to get back with the car. Then I’ll drive in. Should take me about an hour. Then I have to find parking. Glad to collaborate. See you soon!

Will they even have office space for the entire company to come in 5 days per week? Seems like they’ve been consolidating a lot of it.

Yes. Unfortunately that seems to be the trend in the financial & most other industries.

Changing the rules for people who were hired as full time telecommuters is a completely different topic from RTO. In their case there is no R. This is wrong.

Asking people who worked in an office pre-Covid to return to the setup they signed up for is not wrong. It was always the deal. We were lucky. We were insulated from a deadly disease that ki-led a million Americans simply because of what we do. Now people are whining because they’re expected to return to normal. So ungrateful.

@1qzf It was also what I was doing for half a decade before the pandemic. Nothing should change for me or my team if we're going back to business as usual. WFH was BAU.

As far as we were concerned, nothing changed during the pandemic except our workload decreased slightly. It's now significantly higher (nearly double) than pre-pandemic, yet management forces inefficiencies like RTO on us.

Having management harp continuously about the "efficiency ratio" when they, in practice, do everything but become more efficient is some classic class warfare.

@1qzf+1m9TaEYW But many were working remotely full time under telecommuting agreements prior to the pandemic and now are being forced into a shity office with no coworkers to collaborate with

I don't care. I didn't make life decisions based on the assumption that the pandemic party would last forever. I didn't move farther away from the office. I didn't get a dog. I didn't redirect the money I saved on commuting to a new car payment. I didn't allow myself to become used to it. Because it was never meant to be permanent.

People who insist they are entitled to wfh because the have "proven" that they can do it are missing the point. It wasn't a test. It was a response to the pandemic and now the pandemic is over. Get over yourselves.

Who cares. The lazy processing managers are all sitting at home. They will not go in ever. Heck there are people that live in other states that can’t and won’t. They lay off processors that don’t live within 40 miles of hub sites but allow the managers to stay and manage no one. WTF. Get rid of all these managers that are doing nothing!

The jokes on the execs. They hoped we would quit, that was the ideal outcome for them and why they implemented RTO. Instead they wound up with tens of thousands of employees that are pi---d off, refuse to leave voluntarily, are not being nearly as productive as they could be, and are simply biding their time waiting for their severance. It's apparent that Hudson Yards want to get rid of all of us. Some will be soon, some might be a few years out, but we're all on borrowed time. If that's the case, F those clowns, they'll have to write a lot of checks. Viva la Resistance.

Wow the Boomer haters! Like if we all die or quit the bank would be a great place to work. Really brain dead. Boomer and FRTO and still 100 percent remote. I guess I will keep riding the stagecoach gravy train like i have been doing for 35 plus years until it goes over the cliff. Haters always blaming others instead of fixing thier own situation. Stage coach always delivers the payroll every 14 days on time everytime. Nice and slow and easy it rolls.

Why is the OP being downvoted? What really makes anyone think that they wouldn’t be willing to go 5 when they were willing to cancel all previous telecommute agreements and let the chips fall where they may?

This supposed mass exodus if they force 5 was also called for when the 2/3 was announced. It didn’t happen and still won’t. I was in the boat of “I’m leaving if….” but still haven’t.

I don’t think it ever goes to 5 again as that will create a mass exodus. I’ve heard rumors of them trying to push it to 4 though. As far as I’m concerned 1-2 is 1-2 too many. I hate the office and can’t wait for these boomer sc-m to retire or die. Why they’re still around is beyond me.

if people still keep resisting, trying to game the system, etc... yes, it will go to 5 days per week. no more gaming possible then - either you're in or you're not.

I can't wait for the first firings to occur from the "rebels"... you a__holes are going to ruin the hybrid deal for the rest of us.

We’ve been hearing that if RTO compliance rate doesn’t improve, it will ruin the hybrid model for everyone and the whole company will go back to 5 days a week.

No idea if our division leaders are just bluffing this in attempt to get their compliance rates up and juice their bonuses, or if the company is really looking to punish the majority of employees just because management is unhappy with the size of the minority who aren’t following the bs rules.

Read the earnings report. Non interest expense section states severance higher than expected compared to last year. So that means they aren’t winning the battle forcing people out least in terms of their forecast and expectations. They will try something different to ratchet up the misery index.

Labor Day. Nothing to base that on, but with all the micromanaging and emphasis being placed on RTO it feels like they’re really trying to weed people out sooner than later. Concerned that there won’t be enough Hub seats? Keep resisting. I don’t agree with it, but they’ll manage you out without severance (it’s been the plan all along).
