Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Shorted on raise.

I’m sure this seems petty as he-l, but as an hourly employee it seems we’ve all been shorted. When I got my massive 2.8% raise last year, it added up to some fraction of a cent per hour. I was rounded down to the lower cent. This year, my raise fraction was above half a cent, but wasn’t rounded at all this time. Just couldn’t afford that half cent per hour. Seems like the company is shorting a lot of people to save a couple bucks. Rant over.

I'm a complete drain on the payroll and still got the same raise as everyone else. The people running the show are too overloaded to really know whats goin on. Most managers at the shop level have 40+ direct reports and they spend all their time chasing parts and getting yelled at. They can't keep track of what every employee is doing. Anyone that believes hard work here will pay off is just signing up for an increased workload. Do the bare minimum, fly under the radar, get your block 5 and take it easy if you want to survive here. Put your energy into investing in yourself so you can have a future after you depart ways with Hon. The most successful people I have met here have invested in businesses and real estate and higher education, they didn't waste their time waiting for Honeywell to improve their lives.

My mentor told me twenty years ago that you get the same pay for doing the same job.
Buck up and apply for new roles. They can’t replace you at your rate so why are you letting them keep you?

I got a massive 3% raise and almost walked out of my review. I have the pension and all that but my solution was to simply work drastically less. Before anyone starts critiquing me, listen to this. HON knew EXACTLY what they were doing when they took this action and so spare me the whole "HON is great and you should just leave" story. HON sucks and is literally robbing us so they get what they deserve.

My manager, who is not a HON lifer, flat out told me that HON simply will never be great at giving out raises, the only real path to better pay is through promotions or going outside. I’m also an experienced hire and appreciate the honesty. HON can be a good place to work, and if you aren’t getting advancement opportunities, you need to be marketing yourself externally to make a change. In the old days things like the Pension Plan may have been reasons to stay long term, but that doesn’t exist here. Take control of your own career.

I received a raise as well this year, but the compensation statement said I would receive a merit raise plus 1.89% adjustment, but HR direct stated it was 1.84%. The end salary is the same, but it appears the HR math is different than the manager's math.
